Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I am actually in disbelief that we have signed one of the undisputed best young talents in world football in Xavi Simons.

Palinha, Kudus and Xavi in one window- these players will completely elevate the squad to high high levels .. best transfer window I’ve witnessed since I started supporting Spurs.

I mean let's at least air the counterargument, because it's not exactly "undisputed" and Simons is at Leipzig and not PSG or Barca or Bayern for a reason.

The criticism is that he's a lightweight moments player and an arrogant off-putting personality.

The growing pains of a young player? Maybe. But Leipzig were very eager to get a not exactly eye-watering fee and move on.

The talent is there and he has been productive at a high level in Holland and Germany. We should be excited. But growth and evolution is still required here.

Yet at the end of the day, as our new gaffer says "if you don't take risks you also take risks", and we're taking a risk on a player who can conjure magic with his boots. That's the gamble for us to make, I endorse that.

I gotta say that after mgw I was annoyed, and then after eze i was damn pissed and to top it all off after paz i was down right fuming and feeling very very dejected.

But now a few days on and finally managing to get a top quality player through the door in a much needed position that I am absolutely chuffed.

I think once some time passes we will look back and realise we actually got the best player out of the lot of them by a good margin. Also at the best price buy a long long way.

Welcome aboard Simons!

Well, you've aired the counter argument and I must say, I'm not convinced.

And like, the positive spin on taking risks is, there is never any universe in which Dominic Solanke is better than Erling Haaland

We paid a ton of money for a high floor but a low ceiling.

It's POSSIBLE that Xavi is better than Florian Wirtz. Not likely, but possible. We've got a lottery ticket that could hit the jackpot here.

I want that kind of upside when we're spending this kind of money.

Neither had I before we signed him.
I just hope he is given time to settle, as the hype is off the scale. Poor sod, expectations are so high, hope he can cope with the pressure. Having said that, he came across very well in his introductory interview, sounds like a TF type of player.

Goodness he looks so young, I've got pants older than him!
Never mind your vintage drawers, your new avatar is giving me vertigo!
