Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This was posted an hour ago on SC from "The Goat" which is their anonymous ITK

"The Goat hears a CB is likely to be next, with Ake and Akanji, two names passed along. We did enquire about Nathan Collins at the start of the window but got a hard 'no'

Savinho is still possible, if not, then a deal for Lookman is being explored, this will probably run until Monday. Lee Kang-In was also mentioned but nothing about how serious or how far along that might be."

So nothing the entire football world hasn't been gossiping about for at least 24 hours?

They were first in. He had no prior, unlike Eze.
According to reports, he did. But, I don't know what the fuck Frank said to him to make him change his mind, even when Bayern and City couldn't.
I was the first one to be enraged at our board regarding the Eze situation, but credit to them here. They delivered on what was thought to be an impossible task.

What a disgraceful comment coming from a Spurs fan.

It was definitely the comment of a troll

I wonder had we made a move for him before MGW and Eze he would have came? I think he was always a top target but we were scared of getting embarrassed by Chelsea , but in the process we got put in the mud by Forest and Goons! :frankshock2:

By all accounts we were talking to Simons back in May / June and at the start of the window he was out top #10 target. The fact we moved onto MGW, and then Eze shows we thought that he was unattainable. ITK suggested that Simons people reached out to us last Weds to resurrect our interest i.e. the player came to us, which is why it was so easy / quick to do across 48 hours.

Adding another forward is a tricky one. For me tel is not ready for significant minutes in the pl or cl UNLESS he plays with the best 11 to help lessen the drop off we might have with him.

Odobert im happy to give more minute to progress.

So going from CL to PL games you will want to freshen up 2 or 3 attackers. Remember with the new format it means there will be a minimum of 8 game weeks where you will have to go hard on the cl midweek then have a pl games either side, thats alot.

CL (ideally go absolute strongest especially early state for points)

Kudus--------Simons--------Johnson
----------------Richy---------------------

Pl (Freshen up)

Johnson-------Simons------- Odobert
----------------Solanke--------------------

We have to bare in mind richys injury record and OF he were to get injured then tel automatically becomes reserve ST.

Also sarr will still likely play certain games at 10 and simons may move left.

I think right now we are on the cusp of needing another. You could say that we are OK but the second we get an injury to somebody in that group we are short and will struggle.

Ideally id love 1 more very high ceiling attacker. We have a very good and young core group of players and the focus should be on quality. Id personally not want to add lookman, we need someone preferably early to mid 20's with a high ceiling.

I think now we have simons somebody like Lee kang-in would be a great option IF we can't get savio or Rogers(even more unlikely imo.

All in all If we add another top quality forward then every team will be worried about us this season and we will fight to win every competition.
Definitely need another. Tel and Odobert not reliable options yet.

We can put in a U21 GK to make up the 3.

AI Overview

For UEFA club competitions like the Champions League, a 25-player List A squad requires a minimum of two goalkeepers to be included on that list, with an additional requirement that there must be at least three goalkeepers in total across List A and the optional List B

Sure you can put a u21 GK to make up the 3 but you have to have 3.

If we put a u21 GK in the CL squad over Kinsky, he’s handing in a transfer request the next day, as he should.

Put this nonsense to bed, please.

Yeah tbf a lot on here at the start of the window said Simons would be the best signing but we had no chance of getting him …. Funny how Sonny our last number 7 was not our “first choice” either …..

One of him or Odobert is going to get virtually 0 minutes if we bring in another LW and end up on loan or shipped out permanently in January IMO. Whichever one of them has a bigger impact in rotation games and off the bench is likely to survive the chop but we are overloaded already in the position to the point Moore has been loaned and Solomon being sold, bringing in another left winger is unlikely to be a positive thing for Tel/Odobert's minutes, especially with Johnson offering goal contributions aplenty as a bench/rotation option for either wing.

I reckon we end up not signing anyone else purely because of the selection headache it brings for Frank this and next season, realistically we could have tried to engineer a loan with no option for a decent loan fee to a promoted PL club earlier in the window for Odobert to continue his development, giving Tel the chance at minutes so we can assess him here. Think it's all a bit late in the day now though.

I think Tel is the left wing we brought in for this summer. Trouble is, it was before Frank came in. I’m not sure he is convinced yet. Plenty of time though.

So, it is rumoured that we are still after:
  • A LCB who can cover LB (Ake or Akanji)
  • A LWF (Savinho, Lookman, Lee Kang-in)
For me we're already at a 9/10 for the window (the result not the approach), with first team upgrades (Kudus, Palhinha and Simons), squad depth building (Takai, Danso, Tel), key contract renewals (Romero, Spence), and a fantastic new manager!

If we can only get one over the line, I think the extra defender is more practical than the LWF as we're still only a VdV hamstring away from disaster (although Savinho would be a statement signing that could take us to another level). But I do have high hopes for Odobert, and Johnson has shown he can do what he does from LWF, and Kulusevski will be like a new signing in Dec / Jan. Importantly, we could play the midfield that did amazingly against Man C with Kudus and Simons on the flanks.

Why do you think it’s dead?

Well ive been much more optimistic than the majority so far when it comes to this potential deal.
Yes his agent may have just popped back for a couple of days before he heads back but it seems unlikey imo.
If he was signing he would stick around savios camp and be around for signing day etc.

I hope im wrong as this was my no1 transfer choice since the day the story broke.

I think both Johnson and Tel (as was Sonny) are more suited to playing as an inside forward on the inside left channel and would be better playing alongside Solanke or Richy in a 4-4-2 / 3-5-2. We have options and may see that at some point.
