I’ve been outspoken on how much I don’t rate Lookman but if it’s him, fuck it, he’s still probably better than Johnson.

What worries me is he flopped in the PL last timeBefore we bought Kudus if you asked me who is better Lookman or Kudus I probably would have said Lookman. Kudus hasn’t been a bad signing. Kudus, Simons and Lookman would be a very good attack.
When he’s been positioned as an inside forward, which is where he would be in a front two.
He can’t play left wing. He’s only effective when he drifts inside.
We cant switch to a back three if we only have three senior centre backs. They cant play 60 games.I expect us to switch to a back three. Our front line isn’t good enough, so we should stop trying.
We can then use Simons as the 10 and Kudus/Solanke up top.
Johnson/Tel/Odobert as rotation options.
Romero/VdV/Danso/Drag (when he’s back). We cant switch to a back three if we only have three senior centre backs. They cant play 60 games.
Sounds like you've played Football Manager - I used to have this problem every bloody timeThere's just not the CL squad space to sign two senior attackers. Leaving too many out will create an unhappy dressing room.
Davies also looks better nowadays as the lcb of a back three so he’s an option too. If we can get in akanji we’d have the above listed plus 2 more able bodies.Romero/VdV/Danso/Drag (when he’s back).
And we appear to be after another.
I’m thinking that’s why it might be a plan.
My main thing is people are going to have the same complaints about him as they do Johnson, Lookman is 5ft5 and strong on the ball but not a defensive contributor, if played off the left his remit will largely be to ignore the transitional phases and look to finish moves with goals and assists, which is basically Johnson's remit now. You're largely hoping his superior dribbling ability means he's a more effective contributor on that side, and that his prolific goalscoring form for Atalanta playing up front in a 2 can translate to the PL playing on the left as a wide forward. It's a move fraught with risk IMO but I am of the opinion that since we do actually have bodies at LW (albeit nowhere near good or experienced enough) then we're making the move based on Frank's tactical vision, which I do think will include formation switches on the fly which having versatile players like Lookman can only be useful for.

No he didn't. He was a young lad looking for a club to settle at and build his confidence. He comes back a man, a European winner, a Balon d'or nominee, African player of the year. He knows his game, his strengths and weaknesses, he knows the right areas to score goals from. He'll hit the ground running.
Yes, true.5 at the back you need good rotation at wing back, we only have 3 and Udogie is injured a fair bit.
I'd expect loans for Gil, Solomon and Biss tomorrowCorrect me if I'm wrong, but 24 hours to go and we haven't really sold any of our players yet have we?
Yeah, someone's already called it an 8/10 window.Correct me if I'm wrong, but 24 hours to go and we haven't really sold any of our players yet have we?
If we sign Lookman, they have no ambition whatsoever. He's bang average.
