Why are the South Americans always the last to play? They’ll only be getting back late on Thursday. Dreadful scheduling for the European club teams.

Why are the South Americans always the last to play? They’ll only be getting back late on Thursday. Dreadful scheduling for the European club teams.

The South Americans fly off from europe on Sunday and usually get almost a full week's rest to play Saturday so national team gets fresh players.

2nd game played on Wednesday in 2nd week and players sent back arriving fatigued for european clubs.

Its the south american federations doing what's good for them and screw the european clubs paying the wages etc.

Oh I assumed FIFA would be in charge of scheduling.

Can’t blame the federations if they are allowed to get away with it.

I'm guessing fifa gives guideline (eg first match to be wed/thurs/fri or sat 2nd game to be sun/mon/tues/wed or something like that) and federations negotiate final dates with tv companies.

and tv companies want matches as many days of weeks as possible so pay when other countries not playing or something like that.

So it could well be a barstardised system where federations are maximising their revenues, but its also partly due to fifa. Either way, whoever is choosing the match schedules has no regard for european clubs - and we are not part of the decision making process
