Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm not praising them you morons, just stating that they have a better squad than us and we didn't do enough in the window again...
So none of you think there squad is better and that we didn't do enough to apparently try to compete....its frustrating being lied to every season, after not so long ago we were finishing above them but did nothing with the advantage.. we just waited for them to wake up and overtake us................
People on here need to calm down and actually wad what posters are actually writing, if you say something that people know is true but would prefer to just bury there heads, because someone compared us to Woolwich or chelsea .
Just in case some of you have lost it completely, they are our 2 big rivals and the only 2 teams that matter , in terms of us being better than .......wow now run off or you will be late for school
Ok so let look at this from the outside and take off any Spurs Googles, how long has Arteta been at Gooners for and how much money has he spent?

Its coming up to 5 years now and he has spent over1 billion pounds, he has been backed more than any other Spurs manager I know so we can't argue with that, but your comparing 2 different things here, Thomas Frank is on his first season here and we have already added some quality fucking players and we have a good mix of youngsters, Luka, Bergvail, Sarr and Gray off the top of my head. We are quite early in this Project and we have already won a European Cup , if you honesty think after 1 transfer window with a new manager we were going to replace the whole starting 11 then you need to stop smoking crack!

Also I'll be 100% honest here, if we had a manager and they had been here for 5 years and we had given them more money to spend then Pep has had at City and we we had only won the FA cup and kept bottling the league, I would be calling that manager the biggest fraud ever, the way I look at is no Spurs fan wants Arteta to leave, I'd love him to stay there every year which says it all.

Any way this is the Spurs transfer thread, I get our window wasn't perfect as we are still light on a left winger and LCB but we done some great business, if we follow up the next 2 windows adding the same calibre of players then even the harshest Levy out critics will need to give him some credit as TF is getting backed!

As regards transfers and transfer budgets are concerned Spurs fans are being conned by Levy. Every transfer window we have a couple of players brought in on loan with the payment for them deferred until the next year’s window. The next window then those fees are paid but reduce the budget for that year. The same happens every year.

I suspect what's really going on here is that the disappointment of finishing 17th in the league is affecting how some fans assess the Europa League win. Had we finished in a 'respectable' position—say, for argument's sake, top 6—I doubt there'd be much noise about the EL as a second tier cup.
Given the choice, I'd have taken 17th and a Europa League win over runners up and nothing 100% if only to get that horrendous, disgusting trophy monkey of our back.

And the fact we did it while being so shit in some ways makes it even sweeter as it winds up gooners even more....They absolutely hate it....They were very good last season and finished with fuck all, we were absolute garbage and finished with a major trophy. It's glorious.

But....People trying to make out it's not a second tier competition are just lying to themselves and making themselves look stupid.
It is what it is. The best 4 or 5 clubs in every major league didn't take part. Even the best teams in countries like Belgium, Czechia, Denmark etc...didn't take part.

We're in the top tier competition this season. It's where every major club wants to be. The Europa League is a second tier, consolation competition for those not good enough for the top tier.

And in the same way the trophy West Ham won is the third tier competition.

Just don't understand why people are pretending otherwise.

Twat. That's always the response from idiots who have no spine and believe everything levy does is great .....especially having a smaller squad than most others in the champions league as we dont have enough home grown players ans so uefa rules mean we will have a 22 man squad and not the usual 25 ...some more quality transfer planning by levy.
Also im sure that you are a gooner, no real supporter should settle for this incompetence and bullshit. So enjoy watching eze and hincapie playing in your souless stadium and your shit red kit ....
You are really pi$$ing against the wind on this one cocker...making unfavourable comparisons with rivals is never going to go down well whether accurate or otherwise.

Constant references to rivals can also be seen as a characteristic of suffering from small club mentality.

Idiot.

Second tier cup, my dog's hole.

If it were down to me I'd make it a perma-bannable offence to belittle our European glory.
As it is, I'll just have to use the block function. Now away with you.

100% THIS!

It's wound me up no end that people have been calling it the "Wafer Cup" &"Ropey League" and that's BEFORE we won it a 3rd time!!

Fuck me, I even liked the randomness of the old Cup Winners Cup, as that could throw in all SORTS of clubs who'd been rewarded for a Cup win!
...and don't even get me started on how the FA Cup was getting watered down for years... (because it wasn't the CL I assume?) and only recently has it had some kind of resurgence & re-recognition as THE Domestic Cup trophy to beat all others!

It just beggars the question that if you keep narrowing it down then, that limits us to just TWO competitions DEEMED WORTHY enough to win!
..and let's be honest, unless something remarkable happens, we ain't getting our hands on either the PL or CL... but why should THAT consign us to a season of perceived 'failure'??

I'd be MORE than happy with a respectable league position and either Domestic Cup...

But truth be told, winning the FA Cup would be pure nostalgic magical Dreamland for me this year!!!

You can make the same argument about the 'Club World Cup', which is handicapped by it being seeded by teams that aren't league winners necessarily, or Champions League winners, and is played at the end of a season where the squads were mostly on their arses anyway.

In a world where Man City and PSG have mostly bought all the available trophies, competitions like the Europa and the League Cup have far more appeal than they used to. 25 years ago Man Utd threw the FA Cup just to play in the Club World Cup, and I reckon even now our fans would pick an FA Cup over a pointless commercial sportswashing tournament.

I rest my case. Extremely proud of winning a second tier cup

Final proof you're not and never have been a spurs fan.

Imagine belittling our european win.

I strongly suggest you fuck off and never post here again. Your kind aren't welcome here.

No need to reply. Blocked before you bore me with another of your posts.

You and John Thomas, as far as I'm concerned (and probably most of us REAL fans) are pink care bears.

I am all for speculative purchases of young talent. Dele is probably the finest example in our recent history, and both Bergvall and Sarr look being very successful purchases in the same vein. However, I still cannot get my head around spending as much as £40m on the likes of Gray and Tel. That is an awful lot to spend on players that the club clearly acknowledge are not ready to start (otherwise we wouldn't have gone out to get Palhinha, Muani, and tried to buy Savinho). With the £80m we have committed to Gray and Tel we could have bought MGW or Savinho early in this window. If Levy really wants to win the PL and the CL we need more Savinhos and less Tels. Either Tel and Gray start and develop and become the players we want in 18 months, or they stagnate and go backwards. If we had of bought Wharton when he moved to Palace he'd still be an unused squad player and woudl not have shown any of th eform he has found at Palace.
Hard not to agree with some of that... and let's face it, had Frank bought Gray at Brentford at the time, he'd probably be bringing him with him now to Tottenham, for somewhere nearer £60m...

I think Tel is different as he's had all the hype, but then again, pretty much everyone who's seen him has raved about Gray at Leeds.... He just FEELS like the real deal, and if we play it right, may well become the real deal at Spurs, without having to have spent Seasons at Brentford, Brighton, Palace or whoever to get the move to a 'bigger club'.

I GENUINELY believe Gray & Bergwall will prove to be astute, valuable signings in the Dele mould... and maybe even saving us £100m by not having to go for Wharton NEXT year!

and out of Tel, Odobert or Simons... ONE of them has to stick, surely?

Thought I'd share this: I have a mate who is Japanese, haven't seen or heard from him for ages until yesterday. He says Kota Takai is one hell of a good player. Hope he settles over here and gets going in the Prem

No need to reply. Blocked before you really get taught a lesson.

You and John Thomas, as far as I'm concerned (and probably most of us REAL fans) are sub-human scum.
Mate. Please tone down the "taught a lesson" and "sub-human scum" stuff. I get it's your thing but it shouldn't be your thing 😂

Looking at this table my very strong impression is that this is a great bit of business. Kudus is experienced, Simons is young and also experienced. Personally I cannot believe that Simons would have the same sort of a price tag as Kudus (but I haven't followed West Ham at all!). Joao Palhinha seems like a great bit of a business. An experienced worker in the midfield. Kolo Muani has scored well wherever he played. With him + Richarlison + Solanke there is a solid front line to choose from. Diverse too.

Actually, this looks like an excellent bit of business. Japanese centre back is an interesting choice too. I mean, I don't know any Japanese centre backs that have played in England or in Europe. He was probably some sort of a top prospect in that market.

You are wrong. Go and look at how many teams in the Europa League group stage last season are in the Champions League Group stage this season which means they must have been Champions League quality last season to qualify for it this season. The Europa League is a major European trophy. There are no tiers. Only fans of the modern game refer to tiers. I will concede the Conference League is ridiculous but would you call Chelsea a 3rd rate club?
