It was the right time for him to go. No doubt about that.
I just am not convinced that we're going to have the shackles off now and see a totally different Tottenham. Unless ENIC put the club up for sale then it'll be more of the same.
I also think Frank was a Levy appointment which makes me wonder if our current project has the full backing of the board. Time will tell. I hope its all positive change but I'm cautious.
Hindsight is brilliant but could you imagine the uproar if we sold Dele Alli in his prime? Even if we got 100m it would have been horrific.
And lets say that one of those scapegoats goes on a good run on games and starts getting praise, all it takes is one mistake and they are back to being reviled.
There are elements in our fandom that have memories like elephants in regards of the bad, and like goldfish in regards to the good.
Supposedly, Mourinho when at Man U wanted Dier for something in the region of £50m. I would have bitten his hand off. I liked Dier but even back then he was past his best for us.

That would be good, but it won't happen. For a lot of people life is zeros or ones. Either the player is the greatest ever or unfit to be on the team.
I wouldn't go as far as saying within 12 months. Because the process of getting the sale through can take some time.
But I would not be surprised to see the process started within the next year, and finalised during the next one.
I think things will change. What that looks like, I don't know.
What would I like to see?
1) Transfer business done more efficiently for the football team. IE early and quickly. None of this 2 months of "considering exploring the details of the deal that could be made if we decide to pursue a target we're thinking about engaging in talks with"
2) Better sales business. We have to look at them in blue and now Liverpool who manage to flog players are superb prices. How do they do it, how can we replicate that? Is it a case of having relationships with certain clubs where we can offer them the chance to get the deals done?
3) Success before safety. If we need to pay someone £250k a week to come in and instantly improve us, do it. Don't let the big boys bully us out of it. Doesn't have to be stupid money on un-proven players. But when there is a player who has performed at the highest levels year after year, pay the fucking money Tottenham.
4) I don't object to 2-3 year managerial cycles. It's 2025, not 1975. But ffs, don't spend 3 months to employ a gormless idiot ever again.
I was all over it back then and would have taken it. Some of us knew. Some still think Dier was better than he ever was.
These are the sort of decisions that makes Levy's job a bit of a poisoned chalice. There's always going to be someone pissed off at your decisions. Especially in a volatile industry like pro sports.
The uproar would have been not replacing him. Not selling him.
Thats what levy never seemed to get right in my view. Buy the replacement for your star player a year before you sell them, it was always flogging and then panicking to replace. When they did try to do some succession planning it was a complete fuck up as there was no strategy behind it - eg, why buy Darren Bent for fuck sake ?
That's conjecture, not evidence.
Just as it's equally conjecture to say that this decision, whether the board's or Levy's, has been mulled over for some time. That other hands were on the rudder over the transfer window, knowing what was coming.
Or any other of the scenarios that people have come up with in the last 24 hours.
No one a not a single hack, pundit, podcaster, ITK fantasist or lowly forum poster has the faintest idea of even aspects of this business, let alone the whole picture, and probably never will do.
The timing, coming just after the transfer window, is interesting. Why exactly then? And did Levy negotiate any deals, or at least step in to finalize any? It could be unrelated to the window and the board simply wanted not to have a distraction during the window. And what of the much talked about interview with Levy where he talked about his ambitions for the team? Does that indicate something happened between then and the window? Did the issues with the Morgan Gibbs-White and Eze signings play any part? There's an interesting story there, but I wonder if the media will ever piece it together.

It's always begrudging as well, "yeah he played well but..." He's had a good few games recently, but..."
For the majority though, it's just a case of putting that on the back burner and turning the Red mist onto the next in the scapegoat line, until scapegoat #1 then has a below par game, then the vitriol is redoubled.
