I think he'll get 20 but his all around performances will set them back. He'll be a flat track bully who'll stat pad when a game is already won.

He's awkward and his running style is very much head down and hope for luck. What he does have is physicality that almost helps him beat the odd tackle or get away with a bad touch. But his first touch is horrendous, reminds me very much of Lukaku at Man United. He has the physicality and will score goals, but he won't make any other players in the team better. Woolwich will function far better with Havertz up there even if he doesn't score as many goals.

The Brennan Johnson comparison is funny and a bit accurate. Gyokores does seem to have that poacher instinct tbf and thats not something you can take for granted. But similarly with us, Johnson's numbers are great and he would score more goals than Kudus or Simons, but that doesn't mean he's worth playing ahead of them every week.

Gyokeres is a fascinating player to watch. Technically he is absolute garbage, he doesn’t even run properly, he can’t dribble, his ball control is Sunday league and his vision is worse than Mr Magoos.

However, he is like a lumpy Brennan Johnson, massive frame, gets into the right positions to be on the end of chances and will score them.

I think he will get 20 Prem goals, but won’t get more than 2 of those against the top Prem sides, he will be nullified in those games. He will be a beast against the cannon fodder though. Champions League - he is nowhere near the level and I wouldn’t be surprised if Arteta dropped him for big knockout games
“A lumpy Brennan Johnson” - 😂😂😂😂😂

Bournemouth? Fulham, Palace? Brentford?

Those teams definitely aren’t cannon fodder
I'd imagine the bookmakers have him odds on to score more than 20 goals. Woolwich are favourites to win most of their 34 remaining games and he'll be favourite to score in majority of them. He needs 17 more goals to get to 20. A goal every 2 games is very managable.

This doesn't mean he'll be a success btw. Far from, and I could see Havertz starting all their big champions league KO games come March instead. I just think Gyokores will play shit but generally keep chipping away at the goals and 20 league goal's isn't that great an achievement if he's their focal point and taking pens. Given his style and what he takes away from the team, I think he'd need to score 30 league goals to be considered a complete success.

20 premier league goals because he scored 2 against Leeds?

Believe that when I see it

It's the same basic mix of strengths and weaknesses that Haaland has, and he's one of the best players in the world.

It's a question of how strong the strengths are and how weak the weaknesses are against PL competition. Haaland is technical ENOUGH to access his otherworldly bashing ability.

I can’t believe we are having a conversation about a striker who has plied most of his trade in the Championship.

Sure, some Championship players can step up to PL standard but based on the evidence so far, he looks to me very much the same player he was at Swansea, Coventry etc.
