Spurs are 8th/ 9th richest club in world football.
Absolutely they should be putting teams like Bodo to one side.
Unfortunately, after a promising start, the club has reverted back to turgid football, and can't keep teams like this under control.
Matters not who the manager is or, what players we have, the cycle continues to be the same.
The football yesterday was turgid and inexcusable and should be beating bodo for sure.
We’re supposed to be a top 20 or better club in European football. Which of the teams in this kind of bracket have 3 senior full backs in total? 3 strikers of Solanke, richarlison and tel quality. Our only top quality winger is maybe kudus which is also debatable. Apart from him our 3 strongest attacking players are Simons, Maddison and Kulu who are probably at their best as 10s.
Poor recruitment in general and squad planning has hamstrung us for ages. Really basic stuff like having zero club home grown players is killing us as we have to leave big gaps in our European squad.

By home grown do you mean ex-Spurs academy? I was wondering how many EPL players rise up through the academy to play for their club? My feeling is not many end up like that at the big clubs, but I could be wrong?

Yep, I think they have to be “trained at spurs” for 3 years at some point in the age bracket of 15-21. For example, we could sign a young lad from England or abroad at 18 and he’d be club HG when 21. Really annoys me that in our recent past the only decent players we've really produced that could meet this criteria are Harry Kane and Kyle Walker-Peters. Think Dane scarlet and 3rd choice keeper are our 2 club HG for the CL. You need 8 HG players from England, 4 of those club HG, hence why the likes of Tel have been left out of CL squad, as you need to leave spaces if you cannot fulfil this requirement.

In the future we could have mikey moore, I think bergval, vuskovic, maybe Ashley Phillips. It’s a really sad state of affairs that a club our size struggles to produce any CHG options at all.

So...played okay vs PSG when they were at 20% capacity, beat a promoted team and the worst City side in a decade. Then we were atrocious the following 7 games incl Spam and Donny.
Our expected league position is 12th. We've over performed our XG by 4, and currently the 3rd most clinical team in the league, which isn't sustainable, especially when you have no good strikers. And for the "We're good at the back" crowd, our XG for is less than our XGA. I just can't believe that people aren't worried about this.
When Nuno played like this, it was panic stations everywhere and sacked in November. It's only because he wasn't the popular choice is there any difference.
This is poor by whatever metric you choose to look at. Sure, we're 4th, after 8 games, against a very favourable fixture list. After the Leeds game, the level of opposition picks up real fast until the end of December. If we can stay 4th by then, then kudos.

Ok- Simons and Kudus to cover for absence of Maddison and Kulusevski if we compare to majority of the last season - fair.

Now outline exactly who are the players that do cover Son and Solanke, who both were available most of the last season? .... im waiting... who are the brilliant attacking players that fill their boots?!? Odobert? Tel? cant use Johnson - he was available then and is now.
Solanke from last season is very replaceable no harm, he managed what, 9 league goals or something spectacular? The left is an issue, of course, but Frank said he backed the Tel signing, so he got his replacement.
I find it so strange how hard people are working to convince themselves this is okay. Even with Solanke back, we're not going to be much, of any better.

The melts on this thread I swear. There won’t be many teams who go to Bodo and get a point. 4th in the EPL and 4th in the CL. Both Liverpool and Chelsea have lost games in the CL so far. Give me a break.

The season is a marathon and we need to make use of the squad which means rotation and we to start using them now so come the business end of the season we have players to call on. We lack creativity in this squad and that’s not Franks fault. We need better players up front
Fuck sake we are 4= after only 6 games we could be mid table just as easily. We beat a div 4 team at home yeah great. So what if other teams have lost so have we at home. To a team who could only draw away to newly promoted team Leeds who we play next. Amount self congratulation on our current position is bewildering. We are not 4th in CL now any as next lot of games were played on Wednesday. The performances is the key and in most part they have Nuno / Jose at best.

Bloody hell. 4th place, 4 points off the top of the league and its panic stations and 'Frank Out' already :-)

The Premier League is very competitive. It's no longer 4 teams and everyone else. You can't go out and win every game.

City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Palace, Liverpool, United, Arse, Spurs will be eyeing a top 4 spot.

Forest, Everton, Bournemouth, Brighton, Villa, West Ham will have ambitions of Top 6.

Whilst I agree, there’s more to football than results. Lucky results and poor attacking play won’t keep you 4th. We’ve improved defensively 100%, but the set piece goals will dry up as will results. Let’s hope Solanke and Muani come back and change the dynamics of the attack (which then could).

Ranked 24th in Europe. Bodo currently ranked 35th. Bodo have taken some scalps at home the past few seasons.

So a similar difference to us playing Benfica, Roma, Frankfurt.
Ranked 13th, 14th and 15th respectively.

Would you expect us to win any games against those 3 at home?

The accepted norm for academy players to make it is less than 1%. Especially moving all the way through the system at your own club.

As you get closer to the first team in term of age and being offered professional contracts that % chance increases a lot as you are suddenly in a much smaller pool of players as others are released.

Statistically someone like Josh Onomah and Dane Scarlett are academy success stories. They have moved all the way through the academy and played first team minutes. Whether the fans view them as a “success” is a different story though.

If you look at what Spurs (and other premier league clubs) do though is take on players from other clubs.
Lankshear had been released by Woolwich. Went to Sheffield united and impressed, then on to us.
Devine came from Wigan. As a very young lad was at Liverpool before that.

The reality of any academy is it’s a meat grinder. The more players you pump in at the top the better your results at the bottom.
And development of a person is never linear. For instance Declan Rice released by Chelsea for being too small. (at 16 I think)

Have seen it ruin youngsters lives too. It’s pretty brutal for some when their life’s ambition is just blown out of the water at 16.

Note: these are the same people that defended losing 22 games in the league and wishing for that to continue this season.

It's TRIBAL.

It's CULTish.

It's IRRATIONAL

And it's fucking TEDIOUS already.

Their fat dad isn't coming back and they need to either fuck off to Forest forums to suck off his current league nosediving, or at least pretend to support this club and give a new manager the time he needs to sort out all the damage their fat dad did.
Don't hold back mate :pochohshit:

Fuck it you've convinced me...

We need to sack Frank today and bring Iraola in. If he's not got us playing the Tottenham way after 6 games we sack him and try the Palace manager.

If he hasn't got us playing in three games we sack him and bring back Ozzie, at least his football was entertaining...

(This is why our fanbase gets labelled as the most annoying and deluded bunch going by rivals btw)

I'd say Kudos is Son's replacement, but his goal and assist output doesn't match peak Son's but as you say Son declining anyway and couldn't beat a man anymore or create enough space to get a shot away.

I hope not. Like you say he’s never going to score enough goals. He doesn’t seem to know when to release, pass, cross or shoot and always wants one too many chances. I’m assuming it’s a left over from his time at West Ham where he was reluctant to pass the ball to his team mates as they’d probably lose it! Frank needs to get it out of his game asap and he will be an infinitely better player for it and us as a team.
