Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is what people don't understand:

-----Vic----
---Porro----Romero----VDV----Udogie----
----Palhina----Bergvall----
--------Kudus-----Xavi----Maddison----
-------Kolo------

Missing elements that will make all the difference to our attacking play.

That's a saucy trio right there.

Bergval's not composed enough or good enough without the ball to play in a DP. And neither him or Palhinha can pass the ball good enough or often enough. We don't have cm's good enough to play a DP. Don't know why Frank keeps doing it.

Palhinha(New Guy soon)
Simons/Berg/Sarr-------------------Maddison/Simons

Kudus/RKM-----------Solanke/RKM/Tel-----------RKM/Odbod

I don’t think we have a 3 man CM in a 4-3-3 that’s good enough. Sarr-Palh-Berg is as good a we have for that formation imo, and I don’t think Frank especially likes it because he really likes to have either Sarr or Bergvall as a bench option as much as possible, and using both leaves him feeling short of options at the 8.

In a 4-2-3-1 though I am completely fine with Sarr-Palh and Berg-Palh. Both have enough skills to make it work. It’s probably our best CM combo for now, too. You want Xavi and Palh on the pitch as much as possible- that much is already clear.

My post was to highlight that attacking 3.

Midfield needs a revamp - 4231 or 433,, it's just not right with the options we currently have.

Fuck it,4-4-1-1. Play kudus up with Xavi behind him. Play Porro right mid with Spence behind him. Udogie left back with Odobert at left wing. Two centre mid of Paulinha and Bergvall. Micky and Cuti at centre half.

In that we have someone who can hold it up. Someone who can get close to the striker from central and thread passes. We have a ridiculous crosser of the ball on the right. Two midfielders who’ll compete and can add goals and two full backs that will get up and down the pitch.

I quite like the idea of Maddison and Simons, and Kudus and Kulusevski each partnering on either flank. Both pairs have players that can play on the flank or in the inside half / #10 space, switching positions and keeping the opponents guessing.

Simons ----- Solanke ----- Kulu
Maddison ---- Kudus
Palhinha

I reckon he's done @ Spurs.

Hope to be proved wrong.
Not many players can come back successfully from an ACL at that age. Couple that with his body generally giving up on him from a young age, and the outlook is fairly bleak. Can take 12 months to get up to speed after an ACL, and when you're a player who's already perma-injured, you're talking about a 31 year old.

I don't see him coming back to near the player he was. Always been his biggest issue.

I hope you’re wrong.

The advantage Madders has is his game has never really been about pace.

The biggest concern for me is how an already targeted player would stand up to being mowed down repeatedly after a major knee injury.

Bentancur hasn’t been the same player post injury and I wonder if a big part of that is the psychological fear of a repeat injury.

I think we'll see him in a Spurs shirt again, no question.

Will he be the same player as before? Difficult one to answer, the whole "not the same player" thing can almost become a self-fulfilling prophecy, as people will be more keenly looking out for things to suggest he's not as that's what they are expecting.

Any quiet spells, or knocks picked up and people will be falling over themselves to say he's "done", which would conveniently forget that he throughout his career, including with us, has had quiet spells, dips in form, and injury problems quite regularly.

My view is that the best we have seen from Maddison, in a Spurs or any other club's shirt, is the best we can expect to see from him when he returns from his latest injury.

By that time; Maddison's best may no longer be good enough for where this team is headed.

I expect Maddison to be replaced during his absence.

Could be sold next summer.

I would have thought Paulinha, Bergvall, and Xavi could.

God balance and a bit of bite.

He pretty much has been already. Will need to fight like hell to displace Xavi.
