Match AS Monaco vs Tottenham Hotspur. Wednesday the 22nd of October 2025 UCL

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So what do we need to do more of for him to flourish?

He just looks a bit overwhelmed by the pace and physicality of the league..... And doesn't always look 100% up for it either (e.g. tonight).
Play through the centre a bit more. We go wide, wide, wide. Get the other midfielders closer so he can pass it and move.
We go long a lot which with richie and tel is a waste of time
Muani and simons though could be a good combo

Totally understandable it will take time. But theres no sign of any improvement and seem to be getting worse.
Our midfield were absolutely non existant just like ange times. Benta and paulinho sat right on top of centre halves again and bergval was on top of richie. Leaving the whole midfield free. Just cant see what we're trying to do.

Dont forget our much lauded coaching staff. We looked severly undercoached and clueless tbh
Since Pochettino was sacked the only time I thought the team was good, and flowing, clicking, balanced, looking good, was that handful of games under Conte when we beat Woolwich to 4th place. Apart from that it's bean a strain watching.

No it wasn’t that bad. Monaco arent a bad side. We didn’t play well but with more conviction could have won it in the end.

People seem to have forgotten how shit we were last season. Maybe they should remind themselves by looking at the europa league group game performances again.

Tonight was comparable to Gala away last year. And Gala have far more weapons than Monaco.

We comfortably accounted for Bodo 6 months ago. We barely scraped a draw against them a few weeks ago.

It doesn't help anyone to pretend we aren't struggling big time at the moment. We are so reliant on our starting back 5 playing. We simply have no one forward of our defence who can win games for us any more.

There's something to be said for continuity and with so many competitions and some key players out it is difficult to develop that. It feels like (without looking) that scoring is down this season and not just for Spurs. I think the excess of matches is impacting the quality of play.

When we thought we had gone 2-0 up against Chelsea two years ago almost to the day - that was the most thrilling 10 weeks of PL football at spurs since 2016.

Then VAR chalked off his goal and Cuti got sent off, Mickey and Madders got injured and Udogie got two yellows and it's been bad ever since.

Oh... except for this:

Good lord. Compared to last season, which was an anomaly, yeah. If the next gen of this team is to go from super shit, to really shit, then fair play, were class.

Anyone that enjoys watching this dross is a masochist.

Everything's a strawman with you isn't it?

No-one's said "better than 17th = success".....

No-one's tried to convince you this is the end-game.

No-one's said they "enjoyed" tonight.

Agree with a few others who are saying that it hasn’t been fun watching Spurs for a long time now.

It’s really hard to get enthusiastic about the club right now and it seems like we are going through the motions.

Not many players to get excited about either. We seem to lack an identity.

When I watched Newcastle versus Benfica they had so much energy and just properly went for it. We never see us play like that and haven’t in years.

It feels like we are waiting for the next generation of Spurs stars to come through and deliver and spark the club like what happened with Poch, or even with Modric and Bale before then.

At the moment it’s all meh. The football has been largely so poor for a long time now. Even winning the Europa final was done in an anti football kind of way.

Our attacking players Kudus aside are all bang average and Kudus isn’t ever going to get enough goals so that’s not great either.

I don’t know, maybe it will all click and this is the dark before the dawn but maybe it’ll never happen, that’s a possibility too.
