I think the truth is a combo of 1) we're over hyping him and 2) we're too reliant upon him.

Yep, he’s simultaneously clearly better than anything else we have but he’s definitely overhyped.

He does some things very well like holding the ball, strength and take ons, and he can put in some good crosses but he’s also wildly inconsistent with his delivery, he holds on to the ball too long and he’s not the best link up player or passer and I don’t think he’ll ever score enough.

Hes a good player. I've no concerns about him. If he was surrounded by technically better players playing more fluent front foot soccer he'd be better. But hes playing glory ball without Bales Asgardian gifts. We must up our tactical ability. Stiler, Wharton. Midfield needs players who can see a pass. That's not Sarr, Bergvall, Bentancur, Paulinha. Ideally two of this profile need adding.

First match for decades that I’ve been able to watch, but didn’t. Caught up with an after holiday email inbox instead.

Maybe a holdover from last season’s league performances have added to my malaise about us right now, but we are so fucking boring to watch. Not sure when I’ll be motivated to jump back in to be honest. Watching us against a similarly uninspiring Everton isn’t getting my juices flowing.

Mate, you done yourself a favour.

Until we can balance with equal threat on the opposite flank; Kudus will become increasingly predictable as the oppo will have seen all the tricks up his sleeve by the end of the first half.

It will be fine. Frank will learn and adapt. By the way if there are still Ange idiots out there get a grip.

The current core of players are adjusting. The defensive structure is the first thing which needs to be fixed, this will take time. After that you continue in midfield and finally attacking patterns can be developed.

The squad still needs a lot of work. A few bad decisions have been made such as the Bentancur and Romero extensions and rather lazy ones such as the Palhinha and RKM loans. Gray and Bergvall have to start playing in a primary position. Also the current style of play is crying out for a striker with strong hold-up play and a better sense of awareness in the box.

The next incomings need to be oriented more around technical quality.
