Cos under Frank Johnson actively makes the team worse unless we're playing on the break against a City/PSG type side. He passes backwards, never beats his man, is a non-entity defensively, makes shit touches and constantly turns over possession.

Odobert's not great but he can at least do the basics, occasionally dribbles his man and brings other players into the game.
That's on Frank then, not Johnson.
Odobert offers us nothing.

I give up with our fanbase.

Good luck with your quest to bin off another manager and start this merry go round again... absolute mugs.

Meanwhile up the road you can see actual evidence of what happens when you stick with a manager through a lot of thin and back him over a few windows.

The answer is right there staring you all right in the face.

Who on gods green Earth thought that Frank would come in, wave a magic wand and have us competing with this squad and with most of the goals and creativity from last season stripped out of the team?

clueless doesn't cover it.

EDIT : I can see a few sensible people who realise this squad isn't good enough right now so that gives me a bit of hope.

Poch, Mourinho, Conte, Nuno, Ange, Frank. We've tried every single flavour of manager at this point. And people STILL convinced the answer is to sack another.....

I think what we have now, with all the personnel changes, is a collection of disparate individuals; not a team and certainly not a team that plays together.
Frank could well be the guy who pulls it together, I just hope he does it in my lifetime.

I haven't seen anyone demanding Frank out. He will 100% get this season and it would be ridiculous to even consider sacking him this season. He will be judged in May when he's had a fair amount of time and had a chance to work with all the player including Kulusevski and Solanke.

But lets face it, the performances have been underwhelming so far and the style of football has been boring. We've turned into a set piece team who create little to nothing from open play. Its very early on and Frank has implemented some strong defensive foundations so he's done some good work too. But over the next few months, we need to see a major improvement in our midfield and attacking structures. Fans have every right to express their concerns on here imo. If anyone wants him sacked now then just block them posters, I haven't seen any yet! I imagine if things haven't improved by May and we miss out on qualifying for Europe then we will see fans wanting him gone but Frank has loads of time to get it right before then.

Our attack is poor but our midfield isn't that bad, I think the manager is misprofiling some of these players and his midfidles setup needs to be questioned.

Our midfield is ok when they actually perform but they are all wildly inconsistent. Mainly because we are relying on kids.

Sarr was terrible when he came on, and everyone has been moaning he hasn't played enough. Bergvall put in a stinker last night. Expected as they are young kids.

Palhinha is the only one putting in consistently good performances but he's a destroyer so even if he plays well, he won't make the team tick.

Bentancur is pony.

I think CM is a massive issue for us.

I came from twitter and its a cesspit of people calling for Franks head. I probably shouldn't twitter then post on here...

riles me up

Sacking Frank is not on the radar, nor should it be.
However, irrespective of table position, we are a fucking bore to watch. Even at home.
He will get the season, but he needs to show something. other than "playing not to lose ".

I think the making us hard to beat first and foremost is just a sensible foundation to build on. Builds up the mentality, so even if we have an off day or are utter shite like last night we can hang on for a draw (admittedly a lot of luck was involved)

He's also handicapped by most of the goals/assists from last season have left or are in the physio room long term.

I don't think its his long term vision to be negative and I remember his Brentford were pretty expansive. Always had a go at us when we played them.

I've been critical of Frank so far but he 100% deserves at least a full season. It is way too early to judge him and I think the exceptionally poor individual performances from both Richarlison and Xavi Simons have really messed up his plan too. The double pivot works if you have an inform Xavi Simons getting a free roll in the 10 and a Richarlison who is able to hold the ball up to sustain attacks better. Both have been horrific the last few games and we don't have any alternatives.

Twitter is full of nonsense these days. I saw that Poseidon (@spursjourno) account who's got 16k followers and his player ratings do be embarrassing. For someone who is well respected on twitter, his football opinion is absolutely horrific. Kinda sums twitter up.

Bergvall isn't a 10 yet the manager insists on playing him there.

Sarr has been dropped, this is after being one of our most consistent players

Bentancur/Pal combo is a black hole

Gray hasn't seen a minute on midfield since Doncaster and bar Pal he's been the only one showing a shread of consistency in that midfield.

^ This is what I'm talking about.

Who else can play 10 if not Bergval though? Simons isn't at it and can't play every game. This is the thing, Frank is a bit stuck with the options at the moment.

Sarr isn't a 10 either.

You say Sarr has been dropped but he was injured. We don't know how much impact that has had and may be a reason he's not featured much recently. Although I agree that he needs to be put back in the starting 11.

I agree that Gray needs to be given a chance in midfield.

I think some of Franks decisions are odd, but I also think his current options are pretty shit.

Yup.

This is structure is basically what they talk about a lot.

IMO it has to be informed by analytics to some degree because Slot is doing it at Liverpool.

Any tactic or shape can work if given time to perfect it. The decision Frank needs to make now is if this midfield experiment is worth risking the whole project on because if we keep performing this badly whilst he figures it out, the noise online will start filtering into the stadium. We’ve seen it so many times before.

Personally, I don’t really get what he’s trying to do in midfield but I’m no where near ready to give up on him yet.

Old news. I highlighted that shape ages ago from a goal we scored - maybe at West Ham?

Risk reward isn’t it. You’re 4v4 further up the pitch. You can clearly see it here.

If you lose the ball to their midfield you still have your two midfielders in defensive positions.
If you win the second ball or break the offside trap then you are creating a chance.

It seems this is the new game meta of bypassing the midfield. Haaland, that German lad at Newcastle. The bigger and stronger your CF and front line the better chance you have of making it work IMHO.

Pep going for Donarumma(?) highlights the trend. Playing out from the back is becoming past tense. Whack it long!!

Absolutely

The Premier League going full Sunday League.

Gruesome to watch, especially when it’s not working.

Meanwhile PSG, Barca, and Bayern still playing football and dominating everyone in their path.

Feels like the PL is cannibalizing itself with this shit atm

Frank came here with the reputation of a flexible tactician and it’s his job to work these problems out. Simon’s can’t play every match?

1. Play Kudus there.
2. Don’t play with a 10. Go 442 and launch it.
3. Don’t play with a 10. Go 532 and get creative width from the wingbacks.

I am all for giving managers time. But there has to be something there. Otherwise you just confine yourself self to two or three years of dross.

If we are still playing this kind of football in 6 months time - and are something like 8th - I would have no problem getting someone else in

There is just a strong gut feeling from a lot of fans that he will never be better than mediocre. That can only change by him playing better footbal - not from wishful thinking.
It's for him to prove the perception wrong.
And for that he does require some time

It is a bit weird. Especially seeing that youngsters from any academy will have been taught to keep
Possession for the last 10 years +

Especially GKs. See how English clubs adapt in Europe I guess. Shock and awe powerful tactics.

The prem is absolutely feasting on foreign teams 99% of the time lol. By far the highest coefficient numbers.

PSG and Bayern play in soft leagues where they can rotate prior to every CL game. Barca don’t dominate everyone in their path.

It’s working. No team in Europe wants to play most of the top English teams. They probably dread Woolwich.
