Not sure why some are still blaming the squad for our recent poor performances. It's a better squad than most other clubs in the league have at their disposal. Monaco has a much worse squad than ours and completely dominated us.
We are playing poorly at the moment and confidence is down, but one good performance and a win can transform the whole season.
Fair enough. That's a more leveled take than a lot in there so I can appreciate that. I just think it feels like the wrong fit and he hasn't helped himself with squad selection and going far too cautious in every game. At times you just have to let the hand break off and let them work it out, offensively at least.
Just Mehstg on here so far, I think. 6-4-3 is really not bad- 66 points would be a pretty decent finish for us, especially compared to last season.
We're not that far off either- just need a premo LW and the return of Madds and Kulu- then we'll have enough attacking depth to maybe do something really nice...
Probably setting up players to go in motion- long ball to front line, CMs push forward and beat their man for the 50/50; play it short, Xavi and the wingers can drop deep to receive and set up combinations. It's very hard to judge this setup in a freeze frame- motion has so much to do with football...
Palace's depth is not good. I honestly am amazed Kamada pairs so well with Wharton in CM. Glasner is a great coach regardless of losing some off games here and there- that's normal football.
Dom is good enough to build a very strong side around. I don't think we can say that of Richy anymore, or really even hope to be able to in the future...
Dang- Keane is savage.
C'mon. Spurs were never at risk of relegation. Had there been a risk they would have stepped up performances in the league. It was simple, the best Spurs could finish in the league was 8th so....8th or 17th, who cares? Priority was to win a trophy.
Spurs took a risk, and it paid off. It was 'all or nothing' and that motivated the players to go that extra mile to win Europa.
I very strongly disagree. Dom is a worker, but he's a very average footballer. He's not a reliable 20 goal striker which is what we need.
He's fine as a rotation player. I really think people have selective memory's. He's a pretty poor finisher bar his anomaly season. He's underperformed XG by 4 in the league last season. That's almost half the amount of goals he scored. I never have confidence he scores. Between the two, they're both not good enough. Richy is having an all-time stinker season though

Yeah... I'm afraid my heavy irony didn't come across very well. I think Palace have been amazing for 3 years now tbh - and I hate how the system works because if they still had Olise, Eze etc etc they could be anything but the system won't let that happen

Having no discernible midfield is an even bigger problem now that the system doesn't prioritise attacking and we've actually added some half decent attackers.
I agree, but for me, I think it can be fixed as easily as Frank playing Bergvall or Sarr instead of Bentancur. At CM at least we already have sufficient talent whereas at LW we're begging for quality.
I am unconvinced by Bergval and Sarr. Especially in Frank's CM2 system.
Frank needs to move to a more fluid CM system- the static double pivot is shit. Bergvall and Sarr at least have a chance to break the lines and burst through the middle- Frank needs to be looking to add that into our current setup.

Yeah 100% agree. It's so much harder to instill more complex ideas and attacking structures when we hardly have any extended time on the training pitch with this relentless schedule, European football and a revolving door of injuries.
Obviously we don't know for sure if Frank's going to be able to take us where we want to go, but he needs time and backing to have any chance at all of succeeding.
Funny that two of the most popular potential replacements for Frank in Iraola and Glasner had absolutely horrendous starts to their first full seasons as managers at Bournemouth and Palace. Guarantee a huge chunk of their fan-bases were convinced they weren't cut out for the PL and needed to be moved on after those runs. Meanwhile Frank's got us 7th in the table, we're unbeaten in the CL and some people have already lost faith...
