I was talking about the Monaco game. The user I replied to, using that as a catalyst for "hard to beat" is rather amusing. If we're as hard to beat as that going forward, eeeesh.Divine intervention?
What makes you say that? Apart from Monaco and Bournemouth, we have been pretty solid.
Villa required two moments of individual skill out of the blue to beat us, even against Wolves, it took vicario pushing the ball directly at Palinha for Wolves to get their goal.
And despite this, we still letting than less than one goal a game.
So what part of this is divine intervention?
Or is it Franks realisation that the our strongest part of the team is defence, so a good starting point.
Be solid, keep points ticking over, even if ugly and see if we can get something out of the shit show the rest of the squad is.
Whilst buying time to get to the transfer windows and start strengthen where needed most.
And be in a stronger position for the 2nd half of the season.
We have rough run of games coming up, be prepared for it to be ugly.
A Wolves team, certs to be relegated, a very average Villa side and those are games you're using. We've been absolute dross all over the pitch. Even playing with two DM's we're giving up loads of chances. We're nowhere near as good at the back as everyone here pretends we are, we've just been very lucky that we're keeping out goals at a silly rate, which is completely unsustainable.
Oh I'm prepared for it to be ugly. Don't need to tell me that, been saying it for weeks. I don't see us grinding out results given our recent performances, and the fact that they're against very good sides, unlike most of what we've played so far, we will concede goals.
I just don't see it turning around. Pray to God I'm wrong because I'm fed up of changing managers, but if this isn't working, it needs addressed before January, and giving another manager who'll be gone soon, more money to add to this Frankenstein squad.
