Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Simons willl spark into life or fade away.

I suspect the former.

It's a really good test for him and if he gets through it he might well be that special player we hoped we were getting.

Just goes to show that watching clips against nobody teams and just seeing what you want to see is not always what it seems.

Mate what are you seeing in him? I’d be amazed if he ends up being a top player.

There’s definitely a pattern with these not very quick or strong but technical types from Germany (Simon’s, Wirtz, Kagawa, Sancho etc) having issues replicating their form here.

The more physical types like Haaland or Woltemade have games which are more transferable to any level.

His physicality is an issue but his head drops far too much, weak as piss mentality when things aren't going his way, needs to sort that more than anything else.

Just before Johnson went off Spence had the ball and instead of passing to Xavi who was 5 yards in front of him and had space to run into Spence tried a cross field pass to Johnson but over hit it.
If your own players are chosing to hit long diagonals instead of giving it to a lad who is meant to be your main creative talent then that's more worrying than anything

This is it, we can maybe change our team to more suit his preferred style of play but he's not suddenly becoming a top player under our current manager and setup and for me he's only ever looked really good when he was at PSV and I never saw anything consistent when he was Leipzig.

He's a bit precious in the way he wants to play.

Wants to give a hollywood display every game.

Gotta realise he's in the Prem trenches and will have to get real, real quick.

Needs to recalibrate.

If your slight in stature you need to have supreme technical ability or speed to beat your man - he's showing minor glimpses of ability but he's not looking like he has enough of either to make up for his lack of physicality. Not given up on him yet but pressures on!
