I think Frank deserves a lot of patience, especially with our injuries and somewhat average squad, but this stat was pretty depressing.

Can't deny that a big part of my love for the sport is a well-delivered pass through the lines - Xavi and Madders would be dining out. Whether Frank adapts his style to be more central remains to be seen, but I'm doubtful

We have Kulu to come back, and one day I hope Madders. And Xavi will improve hugely I think. Things will get better

This is what I'm talking about when people say he has players missing, this is nothing to do with absentees - this playstyle is by design, he needs to find a balance.

Or as Dr Evil would have said:

For this stat what actually is the working definition of a “through ball”.

under conte but we had one game a week
The club were still in Europe with the Conference League when Conte was appointed but it only lasted for three more matches and we were out on the 9th December.

Yeah I remember - but by the time we’d got our shit together and hit a run of results which got us fourth it was one a week. After January we had a very settled XI with very few injuries (IIRC) and were able to train/plan for one match a week.

It really does help.

There was a Nuno out thread by the end of September during his short time in charge.

And people wanted him gone!!! He was toast after the Woolwich game with a good proportion of people on here. Took another month but 3-0 at the emirates seemed to be the final straw.

So that was my inspiration for this thread. As it seems voices against Frank are rising.

It is taboo to shout “Frank out!!” Are you in the bin if you holler “Frank In”???

Fuck knows.

I say give him time but I’m very interested to see what the rest of the people are saying. Few loud voices shouting out? Or is the forthcoming Woolwich match going to change people’s minds??

The fact that Conte's shadow was lurking had little to do with people's strong desire to see the back of Nuno. That 3 game spell where we got pummeled by Palace, Chelsea and Woolwich was more than enough for him to exhaust whatever goodwill fans had previously had. And by the time he got sacked there was nothing salvageable about the whole situation.

So the fact that there's no serial winner waiting around the corner this time should have no bearing on people's judgment regarding Frank. Besides, this But who can replace him?? There's no one better!! is one of the dumbest arguments to defend the status quo anyway, and one that was also being made 12 months ago. I thought people would've learned.

Yeah and a combination of getting rid of Ndombele from the team, pretty much Locelso, and Dele too, bringing in Kulusevski and Bentancur upgraded it from Nuno's tenure.

IIRC Levy had given an end of season statement 2020, and said the next manager will play attacking free flowing football etc, I thought it was going to be that Fantana bloke or whatever his name was, he dressed up in a Zorro costume for a press conference. Somehow it went pear shaped and Nuno was hired, not really a manager known for playing that kind of football. Seemed like he was instructed to do so, and Dele had been playing some sort of LCM position which placed him quite deep on the field.

Then when Conte came along he simply set up the team and used the tactics that he wanted.

I know he can't really be described as a serial winner but there have been rumours (which I'm not going to search the internet for) that Pochettino is going to be available for Spurs after the World Cup. So the opposite of Nuno, because if they are true, then it pretty much guarantees Frank get's the whole season unless there's a complete disaster. But those rumours are like a conspiracy theory, that Frank is already gone in the summer, no matter what the results.

I think like most others seem to that we'll struggle against Woolwich, then I think we'll beat Fulham, then have a tricky match away to Newcastle but they not on top form recently, with PSG in-between all that. Four games in 10 days.

I think it's, Brentford, Forest, and Liverpool after that, with Prague in-between so a bit easier and maybe Kulusevski back in the team, and we'd only have to travel to Forest, so really need to get the home form sorted.

Truly shocking stats. No excusing whatsoever.
