This is what I'm talking about when people say he has players missing, this is nothing to do with absentees - this playstyle is by design, he needs to find a balance.
I think it's partly an adjustment/player issue too, though.

Brentford had the 9th most through-balls in the league last season (15 more than we managed with Ange) so he's clearly capable of setting up a system that can pass between the lines to a slightly above average level. I think right now the issue is a combination of him trying to figure out the right balance with our players, lack of coaching time and new players adjusting to the league/each other.

Maybe that's exactly what you meant? Frank does need to find the balance in the system and more penetration through passing - injured players returning won't suddenly fix everything. But at least there's evidence it's something he has managed to a solid level in the past with (mostly) worse players

That data sticks out like a saw thumb, it's clearly by design - our players aren't suddenly incapable of playing a through pass nor are they incapable of running into space. The worse team in the league by a distance play have more than double the amount of through passes played.

Yeah this is what I mean finding the balance - he has firmly put the handbrake on but he's gone too far the other way.

Depleted squad. Oh Jesus. We had 3 long term injuries replaced them all, to the tune of £125m, then got in RKM on loan to replace the other. Now we're having regular injuries for this time of year.

He won't have much time when we're in the bottom half next weekend, and looking up at the table.

Replaced? them all?

We have got nothing out of Solanke, Maddisson, Kulusevski this season.
And Kolo Muani has played longer than 1 half exactly 3 times? So adding him as part of bolstering our squad is totally braindead.

As is total disregard of selling Son.

So on attacking side that means that SO FAR it has been.
MINUS Son, Solanke, Maddisson, Kulusevski.
PLUS Xavi and Kudus.

"replaced them all".
What a load of bullshit.
Minus two so very clearly.

It can be that Kolo Muani will contribute a lot with reminder of the season. That would be very positive.
But so far his impact has been close to zero. Overall 321 minutes out of 18 games so 1620 minutes. Less than 20% of the time.

Appreciate the next 2 games will be a park the bus job and potentially even a back 3. But I'd love to see us try a midfield of Bentancur Bergval and Simons in the upcoming fulham at home fixture. I think Palhinha and Sarr offer very little in the build up phase and we don't play with any urgency or tempo. I think Bergval and Bentancur sitting behind Simons would have all the ability to dominate the ball at a quick tempo with alot more through balls.

I guess the risk is we expose ourselves off the ball a bit. Palhinha offers so much in terms of breaking up play. But its clear we need to find a solution to our home form, particularly in games like Fulham at home. We have to try something different.

Even if the new board are tempted to eventually dissociate themselves from Frank by associating him with Levy and the bygone era instead, it would still be wise for them to let Frank see the season through if you think about it. At the moment this team needs, with varying degrees of urgency:
  • Striker
  • Left winger
  • Left centre back
  • Left back
  • Central midfielder
Which is easier from the board's perspective: To try to address all these at once in January, a target quite unrealistic for any club really, or use Frank as a placeholder in this, dare I say, transition season before bringing in their man ?

It doesn't have to be as cynical as this, with them counting the days until they can get rid of him, but even if this was the case Frank would still be likely to finish this season.

If they actually fancy him then he will obviously get even more leeway.

Really?

Frank gets the next two windows in my opinion.

Levy has left us in the shit.

He stripped out players good enough to challenge for top 4 and replaced every one of them with bang average punts and young players.

Reducing the wage bill was the priority.

If Frank is really shit we will know by the end of the season and can plan for the season ahead without him.

When you look back at previous Spurs managers AVB is the closest to Frank in terms of character.

That suggests to me Frank will be sacked at some point.

If a top manager was available Spurs should always consider these matters; no matter how long Frank has been in the job.

Frank should be under pressure and he should fear the sack.

THFC must win more games and trophies.

Accepting less has got us to where we are.

Well done WillWilliams WillWilliams for having the balls to post the poll. Always interesting to see how public opinion is swinging.
For the melts calling for the thread to be deleted.....just put it on ignore instead of trying to moderate the forum.

I didn't want Frank in the first place. Boring, uninspiring appointment. But I'll sit on the fence for now and see how the next few weeks pan out.

Option C gets my vote for now
