Match The ENGLAND thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

For years fans wanted people in the team based on performances not name/because they played for a big team.

Anderson and Rogers could walk in to any big club in England tomorrow if they were available. Pickford is consistently one of the best keepers in the league and Konsa one of the most consistent performers, too.

The rest of the team is star studded by players from Bayern, Madrid, Woolwich, City, Barcelona, a sub from fucking Madrid etc..

It’s an incredible side. It’s not perfect (no international team is!!) but it is very strong across the board with insane attacking options.

FFS we’re subbing on Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden while Cole Palmer heals up.

Anderson, Deccers, Konsa, Pickford, Eze etc.

We need the big names back in the team.

Would that be UCL team of the season and two time prem team of the season (about to be three time) Declan Rice included in the list of mid table players..?

There are no other goalkeepers, Anderson is incredible and will get a huge summer move, Eze plays for a team who are top, and Konsa is very very good and we have a weak spot at CB so not sure who the big names are.

Eze and Rice play for Pulis era Stoke City and play like Stoke City footballers.

Anderson has been a bit rough since his start to the season but I can blame Ange for that.

The starboys barely did anything in 2025, iirc Richarlison outscored all 3 of Foden, B. Saka and Palmer in calendar year 2025.

Need a game changer in midfield and I don’t feel the team has it. Perhaps if Palmer hits his top form again.

They play for the team leading the league who have won every European game.. put the tribal shite aside for a second, rice especially is one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Anderson has been a standout at Forest all season despite their form .. he’s extremely good and will be out of there pretty soon.

Foden had a poor season but both Saka and palmer last season had chance creation numbers off the chart. Both have had injuries. They’re absolutely elite footballers with proven European pedigree who are worth 100m+.

Bellingham, Foden, Palmer all to contest 10 .. game changers galore.

Saka wanted to come off after he scored faking a limp, then when that acting didn't work for him, he pretended there was something wrong with his boot, like he wanted everyone to think that's why he had been limping and gesturing.

Meh. I hold my hands up to the charge of enjoying a moan, but I find us as boring under Tuchel as I did under Southgate

How? We're considerably better, and will be better still against teams that actually try to attack us. Serbia were supposed to be the tricky tie of the group yet we have spanked them 7-0 over 2 legs.

Honestly I don't get what some people expect from England.

Tuchel looking shrewder and shrewder by the day. Leaving out Watkins raised eyebrows but now he;s explained how he sees using foden as a false 9 as his main back up plan to Harry Kane. Very clever way of getting foden into the squad.

Smart management backing Rogers too who has showed up at every England camp unlike other players who perhaps took their England place for granted. Now Bellingham, Foden, Palmer and Eze will all be nervous about potentially missing out on the world cup! I don't think anyone will be pulling out of the March internationals with "phantom" injuries this time around.

Exact same applies to Trent and MLS who probably both assumed they'd be in the world cup squad on ability alone. But Tuchel has them both warned now that they need to be regular starters for their clubs! Nobody is safe.

Amazed how anyone is questioning Tuchel right now. He's picking balanced teams and balanced squads that are winning games. And he's keeping all the egos in check by letting them know he can win without them. Was also a very clever move to decide to just build him team around Rice and Kane (2 players who never duck an international break and have always put England first). He's not trying to shoehorn players into the midfield, he's saying Rice is my main man so lets give him his perfect conditions (a player like Anderson to sit and do the build up). He's also giving Kane his optimal scenario by giving him pace on the wing and allowing him to drop deep (no more Foden out wide, instead it'll be Gordon or Rashford).

This is elite management by Tuchel. The best I've ever seen at England.

I don't think anyone is, people are just moaning for the sake of it and picking holes because they can, Tuchel is without doubt what England needed, someone with a clear tactical plan and identity and isn't scared to drop names from the squad, everyone should be going into next Summer's tournament with 100% optimism of winning it under this guy.

Oh but there's loads of England fans who don't respect Kane, who want him dropped from the team, that want Watkins, Wilson DCL (lol) etc..to be ahead of him in the pecking order and should be starting over him...so let's see what happens when he retires and who they turn to because it's looking kinda bleak on that front.

Are people still honestly saying that shite?

Could be wrong but I feel like his move to Bayern has seen him given more respect in the eyes of the morons who didn't appreciate his brilliance previously.

Although I guess a lot of the people that judge him on his England performances alone probably aren't exactly following the Bundesliga either...
