Sigh

I'm saying anyone with a so-called winners mentality should be trying to instill a culture of winning, every game matters. Writing off almost an entire league season and acceptance of losing week in week out isn't it.

Yes he was a good motivator for big one off games. I just doubt this winners mentality shit that gets spouted so frequently
And its what Ange fucking spoke about constantly yet binned the league off not wiining games on purpose. Wild

|This is a different argument to the one JimothyCF14 JimothyCF14 was making though.

As stipulated if YOU would prefer to give up that Trophy for a top half league finish then that's entirely your bag.

I think it's insane. But you're free to feel that way, I guess.
Mate the game is about glory.

But it’s also not about finishing 17th.

I would never say we should finish 4th over a trophy. But if we had not lost 22 games and perhaps finished 11th and won Europa, Ange would probably still be here.

Regarding that old dilemma about is it that the players are shit or is it that the manager is shit. Who is the bigger contributor to our current predicament.

For me it has to be down to Frank. And the reason is, the other managers with inferior squads are doing a far better job. I am not talking about results, because results don't always tell the truth. You don't always get what you deserve.

SO I look at is the manager getting the best out of the players. How is he coaching them. Style of play. Attacking patterns. Chance creation. Organising the defence.

All of these, Frank is failing miserably.

There is no doubt we have some really overated players. Porro, Vicario, Udogie, Bentacur, Johnson, Odobert, Richarlison, Spence.. They simply aren't as good as many fans think they are. On top of that we have a bunch of young players, who have proven very little and can't be relied upon in the PL.

Our recruitment has also been shocking.

There is no doubt that Lange needs to be sacked. He's totally clueless.

But the question is, will another manager get more out of this squad, including the players who are overrated. And it's a definite yes.

Just because Ange was a clown fraud, it doesn't mean his replacement is good by default.

The truth is we fucked up with the Frank appointment. I'd rather roll the dice, keep rolling it until we find a manager who shows he is good enough. We can't risk keeping Frank and getting relegated.

Yeah, only somebody who never goes to games can talk like that. The whole last season was an absolute shit show and yes I would trade this trophy against not losing one game at home and watching great football.

Again it's not the argument I was making (or, rather that I was responding to with evidence) 🤷‍♂️

I’ve said it before, but I just found the fanfare around his appointment in the summer to be nothing short of extraordinary.

Journalists, and respectable ones at that, were speaking about this appointment as if we had snared the next great footballing mind as our manager. To this day, I still am completely unsighted as to how they came to this conclusion.

Then you have Levy and Vinai and their infamous “Thomas came out on top of every metric to be a Tottenham manager” nonsense.
Did he really? I would absolutely love to have seen those KPI’s.

The guy was in charge or Brentford for 4 years in the PL. Throughout those 4 years, they punched above their weight and did well to avoid relegation but..
Did they have any noticeable and admirable style/philosophy? No.
Did you ever fear playing them? No (we beat them twice last year in our worst ever PL season ffs)
Did Frank exude traits of a strong personality/charismatic leader? No.
Did he bring through youth players there and turn them into PL players? No.
Did he manage big personalities and get the best out of them? No.

I’m sure there’s plenty more I could go through - bottom line, I think people need to have a bit of a reality check when assessing this guy, because I really would be lying if I said I’m surprised at how this appointment is transpiring.

This “tactically flexible demon” image of Frank we were sold, as if we were getting a guy that had been bossing the is nothing more than utter horseshit and propaganda sold to us.

People compared this guy to when we got Poch from Southampton, you would do well to find a bigger chalk and cheese comparison in any walk of life.
Marco Silva, who was overlooked for the job in favour of Frank, would have been a far, far better appointment and made Frank look like an intern with his iPad on the touchline last night.

Frank is Nuno 2.0 and we need to act fast because the season is still there to be saved.

Totally agree. I was enthusiastic about Frank because I thought he was a better coach than Ange, and it was almost a case of anyone but Ange. But Frank has quickly shown he isn't good enough.

It says it all, that he's been in the PL for so long and no top clubs have given him a chance. No fan base have clamoured for him. Did anyone even know what his philosophy is? Brentford were always a long ball direct team. I watch lots of football and I've seen sat there and said I want him to manage Spurs.

The board have fucked up by going down the Nuno route, that because Frank played attacking possession football 8 years ago in another league, it means he can do it now in the PL. He can't.

When we got Poch from Southampton, there was a lot of hype about him, and his style was evident at Southampton.

There was none of that with Frank.

Roll the dice and get someone else in before it gets so bad we have to get an emergency manager in to stay in the PL.

I go to games. I was a ST holder through the Nuno and Conte season.

Losing matches is inevitable. Of course you don’t want to sit through turgid shite football, it’s why I don’t renew the season ticket.

But for years we’ve lamented winning things, then when we do people are “not like that”. 😅

It was the Europa League. We were clear favourites to win it from the start, we had one decent team to beat which was Frankfurt. FA Cup is bigger than that. Of course it was nice to win it but not for destroying any culture of winning that kind of was still there that moment.

For a start I'm a season ticket holder so, yeah I go to games. Including Bilbao. I think you're probably talking utter shit.

However I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because the bit in bold above does ask an interesting thought experiment:

Would you prefer to finish 17th and win the Europa League Trophy after 40 years drought.

OR

The 2016/17 season where we finished 2nd; did not lost a single game at home - but won fuck all.

Normally I would take the latter but that would be predicated on the belief that that side would go on to win something. Surely?

So with the benefit of hindsight, knowing that great team would go on to win nothing, while this current very mediocre squad would win a pretty big Trophy... What would you prefer? Interesting.

Certainly 2016/17. Look at the club now and the state of things. The title changed absolutely nothing. It's the worst it's been for a very very long time. And that's due to Levy, Ange, Frank and those cunt players.

The coach and players are correct to call out the fans. Spurs awful home form is no accident. The players and staff have no love for the abusive thugs screaming abuse.

If fans want the players to perform better, they need to get behind them and support them - not boo when a pass goes sideways.

Performances are unacceptable. But the fans in the stadium need to step up and take some responsibility for that.

If you don't like the tactics. Or don't think the players are good enough - protest outside the game. When the whistle blows. Be 100% behind the team until the final whistle.
Do you go to games?

Agree to disagree but for me the FA Cup is nowhere near bigger than a European Trophy. Probably the conference. But the FA Cup has been massively demeaned over the years.

But regardless, we aren’t winning the league in our lifetime without a change in direction, so the cups are all we have.

For years so many fans have said they wouldn’t take 4th over a cup. Seems I was wrong.
