I think their players feed off their home fans support.
OTOH they can't play well with fear of making a mistake and their own fans booing them. Its a viscous cycle.

The home fans have on the whole been rewarded with six years of tripe save the odd fixture here or there. The lack of patience and speed at which they are frustrated is tied to the last 8 months or so of Poch, Jose, Nuno, Conte, and after the wheels fell off, Ange. Not just Frank. It’s a cycle of poor performance.
The atmosphere isn’t helping but the fans are not rewarded for their support. I was there for the Woolwich 3-0 under Conte. What a fucking atmosphere. I was there for the United 3-0 before Nuno went. What a shit show.
There’s no real entertainment on show. What do the players expect? Nobody wanted to pay £1000+ for a ST or £100+ per game to watch turgid, defensive dog shit.

I recall Capello talking about this culture in the England dressing room an almost childlike indulgence, they would be saying "We're bored in the hotel" he would shrug bemused. Adding we'd be in St Petersburgh or Venice. At Milan Maldini and Sedorf would visit ever museum in any given city they visited and host discussion about art.
