Let’s go through this properly because you keep denying you have said things that you have, in fact, said.

People paying top dollar for tickets is a statement of fact.

First, people paying top dollar is not in dispute. Nobody said they weren’t. The point is you told me I was inventing the idea that you use ticket prices to justify booing. Yet your own words were, “The people who are booing have been paying top dollar to watch this charade for 6 consecutive seasons now.” That is literally using cost to validate the behaviour. You might not like that being pointed out, but it’s there in black and white. You can’t accuse me of inventing scenarios when you are tying yourself in knots about what you have written.

Are you saying booing should be banned?

How else can supporters express their disatisfaction?

Second, I have never said supporters can’t express dissatisfaction. I have said I do not, and will not, boo during a match because dragging your own players while the game is still in progress makes the incompetence worse. I cannot see how that is the outrageous stance you seem to think it is. After the match, criticise them all you like. Same at half time. I said that from the start.

Is it not reasonable to boo these pricks under any circumstances in your imaginary utopian dreamworld of cheering on mediocrity and failure?

Third, I don’t boo. If I ever have, it would have been post match, not during play. You asked whether it should be banned. No, of course not, I just choose not to join in because I like to think I have a bit more control over my emotions than screaming at a keeper five minutes into a match.

I also stated, in an earlier post, that booing at half time and full time is acceptable for this reason.

Yes, we do sort of agree about half time. My whole point since my first post has been specifically about booing a player during the match for one mistake. That is the part I object to.

My observations were in response to your observations on how booing will not make these players play any better.

You will not find that anywhere because I never said it. I said I don’t think it works and I have yet to see evidence that it does. There is, however, plenty of psychological evidence showing the opposite. If you are going to claim I said something, at least quote it.

These players have a choice.

They could try harder to prove those booing wrong.

Let’s say, for argument’s sake, that booing does fire him up. Vicario might think, fine, I’ll show them, and he has, more than once. He’s kept us in games, he’s helped us win matches, and for a while the noise dies down. But the moment he makes another mistake, the same people are straight back on him. At some point he’s bound to think, what’s the point in proving anything when the first slip brings the whole lot of it crashing back on my head? That cycle helps no one, least of all the team you claim to be trying to motivate.

My observations, regarding the remuneration of footballers, was to demonstrate how footballers who earned less in the 70's used criticism / abuse from the crowd to motivate themselves to do better.

Cyrille Regis confirmed this anecdotally in the video I posted.

You keep repeating that you never linked paying money to saying what you want. I have quoted the line where you did exactly that, so repeating it doesn’t make it vanish.

It was you who claimed that it was impossible to motivate anyone by shouting at them or abusing them.

Again repeating yourself… answered earlier. Getting yourself all in knots here.

It was also you who claimed I had stated that if you pay for your ticket you can say what you want.

You did, again showed you the quote where you equated the two.

That was the logic the people who abused Cyrille Regis in the 70's were using.

Booing Vicario's shit clearance is not the same thing as what Cyrille had to deal with on far less wages.

Your comparison between Regis and modern players is the part I said was pointless. The quote you now want to pretend wasn’t part of that was, “These millionaire footballers are actually a disgrace. Cyrille Regis and many others had to deal with genuine injustice without the benefits modern players take for granted.” That is comparing the two situations to frame modern players as self pitying because they earn more. My point was that people handle abuse differently. Some brush it off, some spiral. Money doesn’t make them mentally superhuman. Regis handled it incredibly. Others, like Fashanu and Speed, struggled. You cannot pick one example and declare it a universal truth.

Just out of curiosity; did you take part in non competative sports days at your primary school?

Prizes for everyone?

Not sure how that relates to the point we were discussing? Another juvenile attempt at a joke. I did do “Competitive” sport at school, got to header it and all. Looks like you failed at the basics of spelling though.

In fairness even Thomas Frank stated that he had no problem with people/ the paying public booing the whole team at the end of the game . It happens at La Scala and at the Cannes Film Festival ( even though no-ones actually paid to get in ) .

It was the singling out of a particular player after a calamitous ricket that he was , rightly, opposed to .
Yes, and that’s my point also. Not bothered about the end of the game, it’s during the game that I object to.

You have a lot of patience for this troll, fair play to you for persisting

To blame the supporters for finally turning on these wasters is a piss take.

This is it exactly!!!

"We'd like to play like shit, week in, week out and not show an ounce of heart for the shirt. We want to be able to tip up and piss about with no real plan or impetus all while getting paid £000Ks"

"Oh and if you dare to show displeasure at our lacklustre attitude/performance/effort/work rate.........you're not a real fan"

Fucking hell......if this was the first match that they hadn't turned up in, then he'd have a point.....but fuck me, the fantasy land that these players exist in is incredible.

They are having meetings about how they feel about their relationship with the fans.....what the actual fuck. This is delusional behaviour. This wank is all the fucking dopey social media fawning and stupid behind the scenes shit driven them mad. They think they are special and are doing us a damn favour. I really dislike this group of players

Exactly this.

They are making it very difficult for us to support them as a football team when releasing statements such as those.

At the end of this all, we were supporters of this club long before they arrived, and we certainly will after they've left.

Europa League was a massive success, and we are grateful for that, but now there are currently priorities that need to be addressed.

We have a voice and they must respect this.

I wasn’t referring to what he said to Bergvall, which was stupid, but his comments about fans booing Vic.

There it is in actual writing the poison Postecoglou legacy. Six months ago it was bad and it ended what? With a fucking lucky cup win against utter shit, in a tournament that Villa or Forest will win this year. I want Conte back these people need to understand they have accomplished nothing. That Europa win might well relegated us long term. This shit is toxic. I never want to see Porro play for us again. The damage choosing to abandon the league has done us is real, thia is deep psychological harm.

This guy was supposed to have been signed for Conte's system (remember?) yet our glorious leaders at the time fucked around for 18 months because of £5M "difference" between Sporting and our valuations. Definitely doesnt fit Frank's highly defensive set up. He can deliver a ball which was the whole point of bringing him in - did alright under Ange doing that - not so much now.

If anything he's more evidence that the previous leadership team simply couldnt get the right players for the right manager at the right time. And i suspect that pattern will carry on even with Levy out of the picture.

I might have a less pessimistic view and believe that getting back to winning ways, or at least playing more bravely and effectively, can change the tide pretty quickly. I don’t think it will take long for Spurs fans to get behind the team, but we need a manager who can get this together. Conte certainly did that in the earlier part of his tenure, before things got derailed for a number of reasons. I’ve to admit that I cannot think of who could realistically come in at this point to fulfill this role, but I’ve little confidence in Frank as I just don’t see it with him. It’s beyond the dog’s dinner we’re seeing on the pitch and with the lineups, as some of his pressers and comments are just head-scratching.

The data driven approach seems to massively ignore the quality of one's character it seems.

Who'd have thought it?!

He’s mad they booed?? At this point I’d advocate throwing tomatoes at our own players. Only a full blown fan revolt will mayyyyybe turn things around. These mugs have three home wins in a whole fooking calendar year!!!!!!!!! That is genuinely the most absurd stat I’ve ever heard of from any half decent team in all of Europe.

Short of violence or racial abuse nothing is off the table.

All of the players should be banned from Interviews and social media until things improve.
The club should notice that they are making it worse from week to week.

I never thought that a squad that has won us a european trophy could get so unlikeable so quickly.

We maybe are shit atm but it's never boring you have to say. Apart from losing every other game of course
