Less mitigation?
We don't have Madison, Kulisevski or Solanke and Romero was out yesterday too.

Ange had also has 1.5 seasons to sort his shit out but we'd got demonstrably worse.
Frank still has to try to fix all that damage, whilst not having the tools..

Will he do it? Dunno.
Can he do it? Dunno.
Is it fair right now to suggest he's doing worse than the worst manager we've ever had at league level? Hell no.
Cuti only one game ban. He play v goons and pay where he was at fault for two goals.

No manager is ever going to completely change his stripes, but I was expecting Frank to have a better measure of his squad by now (and their clear limitations) and adjusted his approach to reflect our preference for fluid front-foot football. What the fuck are his core backroom staff doing?

Instead we have safe, one-dimensional football that barely plays to the (relative) strengths of our squad. Chopping and changing masqueraded as tactical adaptability. Not helped by the soft-bellied losers that we seem to collect for fun.

If the Lewis family have any interest in footballing success at all, they'd uproot the whole culture of the club and commit to a total restructure. Lange and Paratici can fuck off, for starters. Cut the crust off the shit-player sandwich and recruit a few ballers. Review our academy pathways to the first team. And properly scrutinise our seemingly hopeless medical department.

I don't trust their positive PR as anything more than lip service, though. At least Levy showed up to the games... :levystare:

Yeah - I've always been of the opinion that, even if we're a bit shit, we should stick with Frank for the season as there don't seem to be any great, available options on the market and we need to bring in the right manager rather than another short-term fix or a firefighter.

However, all of that goes out the window if we're relegation form levels of shit, he loses the dressing room and we're in a death spiral. He might be able to ride it out if we double down on him like United did with Amorim but if it becomes properly toxic and we keep losing games with zero signs of improvement then we might have no choice.

If the Denmark national team situation goes completely to pot ; dare I say it ….

The words win-win DO come to mind . Naughty but possibly nice , for all concerned .

A lot more competent people in the background. Similar to Brighton.
Well Done Good Job GIF by Achievement Hunter

But we simply don’t have those kind of competent people.

That’s; kinda ( always been ) the problem.

Yes, but Frank is demonstrably not that guy. It's a conundrum isn't it? If there was a hint of improvement, we should absolutely back him, but what is the point of sticking with someone who is floundering worse as each week goes by?
Writing off Frank after 4 months is as stupid as thinking Ange was the messiah after 4 months. This club needs a multi year fix. It’s rotten to the core. Nobody would make us look good.

He hasn't got the mentality for a bigger club. Murmurs about TF changing tactics before kickoff when the teamsheets come in worries me. Just seems like he's only trying to nullify the other team like he would've done at Brentford.

Scary thing is I can't think of anyone decent who could replace him immediately in this current market.

Interesting - where's that come from?

If true, that sounds like a sure-fire way of confusing the shit out of the players if you don't get the instructions just right.

Some of you keep harping at 17th 17th 17th.

We are now 12th, could be 13th after loss to barcodes, 15th if Everton and Fulham do the unthinkable and win both their games.

We only reached 12th last season at MW 18, we are now only MW 13. We fell to this low 5 games earlier.

We only reached 15th last season at MW 22, we could reach 15th if games went against us, at MW 14. We could fell to this low 7 games earlier. That's almost a fifth of the season early in head start crashing down the abyss.

By MW 33 last season, all relegation candidates were confirmed. That's 5 games before the season ended. Even at MW 32, 32 or even 30, Ipswich had to win almost all their remaining games (probably impossible) and us almost losing all our games (probably impossible too but more probable than Ipswich's mission, I'll give it to that), so with almost 6-8 games to spare we had no danger of relegation at all no matter how some of you wish to spin it.

Now I don't even wish to compare our last manager vs Frank here. The above context is to illustrate how piss poor and more measurable of a danger we could really be of touching distance this season. The table doesn't lie. The earlier the season we were down at the bottom of the bottom half this season, the more probable relegation becomes than last season, because we are far too nearer in points to the bottom 3 than we ever were, ever will be, compared to last season.

Then to bring back at MW 33, we were at 16th, relegation safe, nothing to play for in the league, but ALL to play for in the Europa, any sane manager would have kept all eggs in the Europa basket. Logically any manager really would, Poch would, Conte would, Mourinho would. Frank, for all his extreme pragmatism, definitely would.

Getting 17th last season was almost by choice, a deliberate choice knowing a cup win could be the exchange. And you know the alarming thing of this whole scenario? Before we could even afford to make this choice at MW 13 last season, we were bad, but we are way worse now, all with much less hope of advancing far to any of the competitions we are in because now we can really lose to anyone.

Completely agree. Last season's 17th finish is simply being used to shield Frank's performance should things take a nose dive. Frank needs to be assessed on his own merits, not what the guy before him did.

If he is starting to lose the dressing room, but the management want to stick with him, perhaps that should be conveyed to the players. In private.
