Player Mohammed Kudus

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's more of an inverted forward than a LW, why do you think no one has played him there...?
It’s clear as day that Kudus is better on the right, I don’t know why people are trying to move him. If you don’t rate him on the right you certainly won’t when he’s out of position. There are plenty of other issues with the team before we start looking to upgrade Kudus.

Although he’s technically a good player, I personally don’t rate him, don’t particularly like watching the team or him when he plays. First and foremost I like players who understand the game. When to pass, when to dribble, when to attack the space when to consolidate possession. Feel like the most fluid we’ve been was against Copenhagen, even with ten men. Maybe a poor team but how we passed and moved was a lot better. There were combinations and third man runs, passes were played at the right time.

If people want to throw the assist stat in there as rebuttal then why doesn’t that work for Johnson, Richarlison etc. it also feels like the balls down that side the majority of the time and just by the sheer number of times he has the ball in that area is his delivery or conversion rate that good. A lot of his crosses are over/under hit.

He’s a decent out ball at difficult away grounds but long term he’s not the answer down that right side.

Kudus contributes more than those players, outside of scoring goals what else does Johnson bring to the table and Richy isn't exactly prolific to hang your hat on him like that. At least with Kudus if he's not assisting he's getting the team up the pitch and holding off players so the defence can breathe, he's literally our best outlet at the momemt and that's damming seeing as our strikers are meant to be.

It's downright weird that people focus on Kudus, although when shit goes sour people will turn to anything and anyone. He has his frustrations, sure, but without him we would be back in 17th, or lower.

Also, arguably his main (only?) weakness is decision making. The ideal trait for coaching. He has everything else needed, and is still delivering numbers that are keeping us above water. Instead of criticising him we should be thankful he's here at all

Not sure he has an “out of position” position. Played on the right, left, central attacking and centre forward in his career. He thinks his best position is central too.

The ball ends up back at the defence and goalkeeper most of the time it goes up to Kudus anyway. Even if it sticks to him initially he vary rarely takes the ball side on, plays the those clever passes or passes at the right time more importantly. there’s no combinations. It will take a while for it to click with people that he's actually detrimental to playing decent football. They’ll get there eventually maybe. He’s not going to change as well he’s what 25, this is him as a player

Firstly he literally has the best dribbling and 1v1 stats in the league so how can it be 'every time'? That tells me there's something to work with at least.

Secondly saying he's not going to change is speculative to say the least, come on you don't know for sure that he's not going to improve on that aspect, I mean it's not as if players haven't improved past that age either so I'm not entirely sure why Kudus couldn't...It's up to the coach and the coaching staff to work with him and improve him and seeing as arguably none of our players have improved thus far under Frank it's more of a coaching problem then you're probably willing to admit.

I can't really hear the argument pointing to individual players in this team especially when every player is either stagnating and regressing not least our best attacker.

His stats on the left are worse, and plays far better on the right hand side in general. He is versatile and can play on the left but it’s clearly his weakest position in the attacking areas.

No he doesn’t. He’s 5th per 90 and behind a lot of players by success %.

Doku has by far the best 1v1 and dribbling stats in the league and it isn’t close.

Well he was in his first few months and now he's declined which solidifies my point about it being a coaching issue as opposed to being a player issue.

This place is weird, all these complaints about him yet when he produces arguably his best performance this season there's crickets in this thread.
