You are correct this place is mental at times, where mediocrity is now acceptable. You chose to forget his multiple errors for the saves keepers should be making. We won the Europa league in spite of him, if vdv had not covered for his error he would have been crucified, yet anyone in front of him makes any error and he is out waving his arms and berating his fellow players.
Just accept the fact he is nowhere near good enough, he has had more than adequate time and yet still continues to have the same shortfalls.
I wish he was the solution and that money could be spent elsewhere, but he ain't, and as one of the main parts of the teams spine it needs addressing asap.
Like I said in my previous post, can’t keep bringing up the Micky clearance to beat him with. He was great in the final and the latter EL games leading up to that. We didn’t win the competition “in spite” of him, he was incredible once back from his ankle injury.

Did you watch all of our European games last season? If you did, how could you be coming out with this.

Yes, he’s made mistakes with us. When a keeper does it normally ends in tears each time. Which realistically attainable keepers are you suggesting we bring in? Lloris made a few mistakes too, those two are our best keepers in the last 30+ years.

He HAS made genuine errors and I'll criticise them when they arise.

.....But so many of the fan attempts to attribute goals to him this season have been utter bullshit.

He has equal moments of madness for his moments of brilliance, and unfortunately that's not good enough to be first choice for any team who has desires of top 4 in the premier league. As someone else said here he would be a real good back up keeper, but we need so much better as first choice, the is just not consistent enough.
Any solid defence is built on a strong reliable composed keeper, these are not his strengths, for all his brilliance at shot stopping he fails painfully in dominating his penalty area, is distinctly average to poor with the ball at his feet and is just not consistent enough.
We can agree to disagree and I hope you prove me incorrect, as it's such any important position that requires a top notch player, I just don't think he is all that.

You seriously think spurs are going to have Italy’s no.2 keeper as “backup”?!

As I asked before, throw out some better keepers we could realistically attain. Don’t say Czechia’s no.5 Kinsky.

Though his passing today was better. Clipped a few nice mid-range passes to Kudus which he often overhits.

Didn't have much to do at all, but what he did do he did pretty well.

In general, I think the narrative around Vic is worse than the reality. The Fulham goal was absolutely unforgiveable and he's a colossal twat for that one. Needs to cut that shit out of his game. But I do think his slightly calamitous demeanour means fans have a worse opinion of him than his actual ability. People remember the high profile errors, but are quick to brush over the countless games he's single handedly won us points - I think he's a net positive overall. A lot of the more 'steady' keepers who seem more reliable will concede 20-30% of those shots that Vic saves and that really adds up over a season.

Only worth upgrading if we can bring in a genuine worldie keeper. Could easily inadvertently find ourselves with someone worse if we're not careful.

Better than Robbo in his early days or Peak Brad ?

He’s fundamentally flawed, but boy his mentality is rock solid. Sometimes that’s what is most important.

For contrast: IMO, 08-1 1 Heurelho Gomes is the most talented keeper we’ve had play for us in the Prem era, however he would get in a doom spiral and make several errors in a short span of time.

Henderson or Trafford

Since the last tournament the only one who's played is DH (1 app); which would be a fair shout..... But since the last WC it would have been Pope or Ramsdale handsdown.

Trafford still hasn't played for the seniors.

Broader point still stands..... We used to have Voorm as #2 who was Dutch #2.

Being an int. #2 isn't always the accolade it appears on paper.

The last England squad Tuchel called up Trafford and Henderson and sub goalies, Pope and Ramsdale are out of the reckoning.

another solid display to be fair, his kicking looks cleaner now, must of been worked on. the boos were the best thing to happen to vicario, looks like hes had a mentality shift.

Pretty sure his kicking hasn't suddenly been "worked on" and I'm certain the booing wasn't the best thing to happen to him

But I agree he's been excellent responding to that moment. Excellent mentality

I get the feeling that he's steadily been working on his mid-range passing this season - specifically that clipped pass to Kudus. It's a type of pass Frank got a lot of mileage out of from Raya and Flekken.

He's still not brilliant at it, but in recent weeks he's been finding his man a bit more often rather than punting it out of play.
