Such a shame for the guy. What should have been the best 2-3 years of his career, including a good chance of WC finals, and a (hopefully) resurgent Spurs team. He did at least (a) land the big contract before injury - don't underestimate this as it means he has financial security for life (b) win the Europa League
if Coventry get promoted to the Premier League, which looks very likely at the moment, Maddison will be back there I reckon.

Maddison hasn't done enough for Spurs for one reason or another.
He has a young family and probably likes his lifestyle in London.
We can't be sentimental about players who don't do enough.

I remember saying/thinking that at the time. I also said that I'm not sure how he would have coped with Mourinho likely slagging him off and picking him out when things didn't go right. But for £25m or so, we really should have made the effort. I like the idea of him but I'm still jury out (injuries obviously being part of my doubts).

You might well be right; I haven 't a doubt that a player like Maddison is upgradable. I would quite happily have him as part of the squad, and fear that for his type of player, all little pivots in tight spaces, his career might well be severely impacted by this injury. Then again, there is scarcely a single player in this team I wouldn't consider upgradable, even within reason.

He's from Coventry. He started out in their academy, Attends their games now and he has played for Leicester.
He might not want it but, by the start of next season, it may be his best option.
