Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hopefully we're selling to make way for some serious signings this window.

We have to replace him with better, proven player. If not, it’s just going into the circle of buying and selling average players.
We’ve replaced him with Kudus.

I’m all for increasing the quality of the first team and squad and a Johnson is obviously upgradeable. Just not convinced we’ve done so with the right player.

An upgrade to me, is someone who offers Johnson’s strength of scoring, with more in other attacking areas.

Good luck to him. He moves somewhere where he plays week in, week out. We recoup £35m and Palace get a player eager to turn his career round. Everyone is happy.

That kind of player aint coming to us in our current state.

I've watched him live enough times to know that selling him now (it should have been in the summer) is the correct move. The thread is littered with the reasons why. I wont repeat myself or others.

Calling him our top goal scorer [in 24/25 season] isn't more valid than calling him our T-4th best goal scorer [in 23/24 season].

The former, oft-repeated that it is, isn't the gotcha that people with a soft spot for Johnson think it is.

18 goals in all games last season is a pretty respectable number. Obviously he's not a Thomas Frank type of player but for me I wouldn't let Frank make any personnel decisions because I don't think he will be here that long.

And then after Frank is sacked, the next manager no longer favours Kudus.

Cycle rinse and repeat.

£35M for Brennan is pretty good considering his all round ability, however he is one of the best finishers at the club.
If he isnt in much of Frank's plans then its sensible to sell him and bring someone else better in.

It really is that simple.more luck to him.
People whinge about him then give out when hes sold. We say we need to move on average players quicker and this seems to whats happening here.

Best of luck to him. Always be remembered for bilbao

I’ll be forever grateful to him for Bilbao, and he seems like a truly top bloke.

But, this is 100% the right decision from the club. He is not, and will never ever be good enough for where we should be as a football club.

To anyone questioning this, the calibre of clubs interested should tell you all you need to know. That is his level, not a Champions League club.

Also, it has to be said that frankly this is something that would NEVER have happened under Daniel Levy. Ever.
He would have haggled, and dithered, and pondered until Palace et al got pissed off and ultimately didn’t sign him. Or else, we would have sold him on deadline day with no replacement, after getting the 42.5 million that Daniel wanted instead of 35 million. Utter bolloxology tactics, after years of which is a big reason we are in the mess we are currently in.

I for one am very pleased with how this appears to be playing out. Take the money, move on, improve the squad.
It signals that maybe, just maybe, change is afoot in how we will operate .
Very well put

I don’t understand this, sorry. Can you explain further please?
He scored 5 goals in all competitions in 23/24 to become our 4th highest goal scorer, joint with Romero, for that season.

He scored 18 goals in all competitions in 24/25 to become our leading goal scorer for that season.

Other things being equal, there's no reason to assume the latter [and not the former] to reflect better his abilities as a player. Yet that seems to be the implication whenever the phrase our top goal scorer gets thrown around.
