As much as we do already have a lot of other young players in his position, that there is why I think we’d be daft to write him off purely based on his age. You’re talking about a potentially generational talent here. Someone who could go on to be one of the very very top players in the game.

He hasn’t played enough games to pay the fees being talked about. Even Chelsea wouldbt be stupid enough to do it.

I wonder if we see MM as the future left winger?

The Rangers loan is rekindled hope that he could be the next Kane from the academy after all. He’s having success on loan much earlier than Kane did and is honestly more gifted at the same age. Doesn’t mean shit yet but everyone was ready to give up on him at the start of that loan.

Think Moore is a 10 though. Never going to have the explosiveness of a winger. Looks like he’s definitely sharp enough upstairs to gain that extra yard central areas from his brain. Looks a strong kid as well.

I reckon this is pointed at Tel, Odobert and Sarr. Possibly even Simons if we could get back most of what we paid for him. Don’t think he’s overly keen on any of them.

In fairness to him, if we got £25m back for Tel and Odobert, maybe £30m for Sarr and close to what we paid for Simons. I’d probably agree with him.

Agree with all but Sarr. There's a place for him in the squad of a good side.

Here’s the thing about gambling, the gambler always thinks the next bet will be the one that gets them rich. And they might be right.

Professional gamblers have a more nuanced strategy than that though.

Diomande would be another professional gamble. It might pay off but even if it did, he still won’t peak for a few years. Unless his passport age has been… massaged at some point along the way (and looking at the kid, that’s not out of the realms imo).

Odobert was a gamble that showed some signs vs Palace as well. Zaha was a gamble that UTD took on a young player that looked ALOT like Diomande does atm but never fully paid off and ended up back at Palace.

‘Back up’ shouldn’t be in a Tottenham
Hotspur squad vocabulary.

Every one in the squad should be first 11 worthy. If someone’s only good enough to be back up, they’re not good enough.

Yup. Fuck signing back ups. That should have died when we moved to the stadium and training ground.

Big clubs only sign players that push to start. If that means they have to pay higher wages to keep them happy when they are still fighting to start, then that’s the price they are prepared to pay for winning.

All we have is backups. Now we need players for the backups to back up. Then we can sell the backups and get more first teamers.

Also potentially an absolute dud.
You don't pay megamega money for players unless they have "done it" consistently. Especially if you can't afford for the gamble to not pay off.

If we have a squad of 25ish then each year across both windows we should be looking to sign 3/4 players who would best within our best 10 players, 2/3 teenagers who we believe have the potential to be our best within a few years, and get rid of the worst 5/6 of the 25 we started the season.

For example most people would consider Solanke our starting number 9 if all fit. Following this strategy, in 1 or 2 years of him being here we get someone better making him effectively a back up, and 1 or 2 years down the line we get rid of him as his aforementioned replacement gets pushed into a back up role as we buy someone even better.

We are in a shit position. Our rep has fallen greatly, if this was Poch or Harry Spurs we could be in for elite players at the £70-80m range, right now we are shit so those players have better options. Take Cherki, low release clause but he can pick Pep and massive wages and trophies or us.

Therefore we are put into the wonderkid gamble. We pay more money for less proven players because we have to. Diomande is a Vuskovic type wonderkid, 50% chance he becomes Semenyo or much better and 50% he fails and he will probably cost £70-80m but we are put in a position where we probably have to take the gamble as our only means to start closing the gap back to the top and improving our rep so elite players want to come to us.

This by the way is where the buy cheap buy twice, lowball, low wage ENIC style aspect has hurt us so badly. We have to pay more because the good deals for better players are harder as the players don't want to come to a club that is a mess and they have other options.

Leao, Pulisic, Mitoma....someone of this quality for LW.

Need a LB maybe David Raum from RB.

Then go and get Vitinha and Wharton...jokes aside the whole left side should be a priority.

Yup, been saying that for a while now, he's not a winger, he's a 10 in waiting.

If I were to compare him to a PL player it would be Foden, in that he has the type of profile where drifting across the box and involving himself in build up play is his forté. Sharp movement rather than electric pace, with high IQ reading of the game combined with the ability to thread the needle and put himself in the right place at the right time to finish moves.

He's absolutely made for the 10 position IMO.

It will take years to get over. I still think we need new owners to properly do it.
