Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’ve often been highly critical of him. Feeble being one of my most used words.
I don’t think he was an elite level player but
Frank never gave him a chance . He has given time to odobert, tel and Muani who in my opinion have done fuck all to suggest they are better than Johnson.
They were all bought for similar price range( okay Muani on loan). It nobody going to give us 35 million for any of them. A damming indictment of our recruitment.
I wish the lad well and I’m sure he has a bright future with a club that can use his strengths.

Side note: I wonder how Pochettino would have utilized him.

Pochettino would not have played Johnson, based on the players he had and what he asked of them. Aggression, energy and passion.

The same could however be said for many of our current squad, so it's arguably a moot point as to what Pochettino would have done with Johnson.

I agree with you in the main, although a player must also persuade their manager to play them one presumes by the standards they set in training and on match-days. Again, you look at those who Frank is giving prolonged chances to and shake your head somewhat.

But, and this is the one aspect where I do hold my brakes a little, Johnson has also lost his first team spot for Wales, where competition is not the fiercest, so hmmmmm....

I think we lost a player who could have been deployed elsewhere in the squad and been an asset until we got better players.

People said the same things here about Romero when Ange was sacked... they will lose the dressing room. Romero has spoken out in support of Ange, he'll demand to be sold... None of that happened. When it's all said and done they are professionals who will carry on. Players being bought and sold is part of the landscape and always has been so. Most of them have been sold or had a friend sold before.

For all we may know, Johnson may have preferred the move in any event

I mean, can you look at what is going on right now and say the players look bought into whatever the fuck it is Frank is supposed to be doing?

I would wager not. You have no insights into the changing room, what social circles believe what. Feels like what you'd expect with a quiet mutiny.

Will always be grateful for Bilbao, he was partly responsible for the best night of our lives in more than two decades.
However he's shown nothing this year (you can blame the coaches or the system, but he has to take some of the blame) and hope we get someone better (not holding my breath).
I wish him the best though and no doubt he'll do well at Palace, especially against us!

The cunts are too thick to realise Crystal Palace is a London club, that he's probably not even gonna move out of his house and that they're still gonna see him. He's not been shipped to friggin Greenland.
I doubt it, the report is just bait. They know he's not good enough and everyone is just as frustrated with him as we are.

No one wants to work with a coaster, even if he does do tap ins.

Best of luck to him, nice lad.

I think that was a really good deal for all parties involved.

I guess we brought him in the hope he would be something more than he actually was.
No point of denying - he has good eye for the goal and he is a good finisher. He can occasionally even whip in quite a mean cross.

Now the downside is - he tries those crosses max 2-3x per game. For whatever reason.
And what he cannot do - he cannot dribble past a player. Which is really massive problem when you are thinking about winger position. He cannot also control and then turn with the ball and then release it to someone else.

Overall based on his time with us - he is poor all-around player with good ability to find a goal.

WAY too much has been made up about Johnson vs Frank. We put in more back-post crosses last year so he scored more. But outside of scoring he was totally invisible. Go back the pages and see that very many wanted him out long before Frank came to the picture.

What concerns my take on Johnson - I said in the end of summer window too - "if there is good offer then sell him, but not the biggest issue in squad". And that is exactly what happened. We got good offer and cashed in. If we had not, it pretty clear how it would have gone - he would have set on bench on minimal contributions. His value would have decreased. Most likely we would have kept him until end of contract and would have released him on free. Right now we saved lot of salaries and generated quite the sum from sale to reinvest. In short - he was a punt that did not fulfill the hopes and got sold for as small loss as possible. Happens. Lets move on.

Thank fuck he’s away. Hope it’s the start of a cull. Don’t want to see poor players at this club anymore.
Good luck to him though and will always have a place in our hearts because of Bilbao.
