We are definitely under-performing relative to talent

That's why there's been 1,000's of posts discussing the manager in the last 14 hours
100%.

I know it’s poor form to mention our previous manager; but he got us 5th in his first season whilst recovering from losing Kane and Lloris. Royal and Davies played half a season each. So did GLC and Skippy. Gil and Werner were our threats off the bench. And have a look back at his thread on here to find out what most posters thought of Son that season. Wasn’t hugely positive.

This season? Kudus and Simons added to the attack and they weren’t cheap. RKM is a World Cup final striker (missed a sitter to be fair). Da so isa stronger backup than Dragusin. Palhinha is in as our first pure DM for a long time.

So to my eyes, no matter the fact that I believe the squad to be a shower of overpaid, over emotional nancies, it’s a stronger squad this season than it was then. How does it go from 5th to drudgery? It’s a leadership issue. Has to be. 100% on Frank.

So the big hope is that when Solanke comes back from injury we'll be saved.

More so Maddison for me, but we know that isn't this season. Kulusevski a close 2nd.

That's the very first goal that we conceded this season

And that's the most recent one

When I saw this against Sunderland a few days ago..

..I was reminded of this that took place in mid-October apparently

Another instance from the same day back in mid-October. Not very dissimilar to the one Semenyo scored is it?

..Also similar

Kept a clean sheet against Palace, but not without allowing chances like this

In case you think we've been ridiculously unlucky with those "belters" ,other teams also concede similar goals when they defend these shots in a similar highly conservative and lethargic manner. Two from the same game

By contrast, these from yesterday are much better; although the first one where Palhinha only tiptoes towards the attacker instead of rushing at him is still not ideal

For someone who's quite risk averse with his team's passing and movement, Frank is surely taking a huge risk with these target practice shots. Players at this level will bury these at a rate high enough to cause some serious headache, as evidenced by Villa and Bournemouth games in particular where those goals were the main culprit behind the losses.

This is not working.
thanks for pulling all these together. what an appalling display of just not giving a fuck. the casualness with which we literally just walk around is staggering. i don't think i've ever seen a team in any sport less interested in competing in my life. play the kids. at least they'll try

I would like to think theres more to it than Vibes, my immediate instinct is to reject that

but

I think theres actually something to it

Vibes can be the difference between success and failure

If its all good vibes with Frank, he gets more time and patience

If its all good vibes things have a general positivity - an intangible - but really important

And since he came in Frank really has had chronically shit vibes

Pretty much.

Frank was initially on good ground, having beaten that lot in that game in pre-season. Then we had what pretty much everyone thought was a good transfer window (in the end), and a half decent start. (The signings now are sh!t -how convenient)

Since then, the best it has been is steady, and the last few weeks have been gradual, but perceptible decline.

Unlike United and filth club, you don't however get the impression of a schism between manager and board, and neither is their talk of dressing room interference.

To be honest the loudest noise is silence and transfer inactivity.

We finished 5th two years ago.

********Without Europe

If you think this is 100% on anybody, you are going to be majorly disappointed.

Remember this infamous sequence where Palhinha the destroyer was backing off of a player inside our own third despite having the insurance of a 5 man defense behind him?

Is Frank just terrified of the alternative reality where defenders rush at the player on the ball on these occasions, only for the latter to tear the entire defense apart with a nifty through ball to leave a teammate 1v1 with the keeper? That's the only semi-reasonable explanation that I could come up with.

I get it to some degree; but being this close to the goal well inside the shooting range, the player on the ball becomes the primary threat himself. Besides, like the sequence above, he can still find the exact pass that Frank is trying to prevent with this strategy.

I think the cup was a stitch up by someone.
That was given to him by some one, in such a way as that the badge was facing away and let them take a picture.

There's gonna be more to this.
Maybe it was Romero, trying to expedite the (almost) innevitable.

This won't be popular. Haven't read the next post in the thread but I reckon CJJ will be all over this!!!

BUT - if I may add - Lloris was still there under the period that gained the vast majority of our points that season. He just was frozen out until January.

You've totally missed out there that this season has had no Maddison, no Son, no Solanke, no Kulusevski

That's not an issue we had last season, which is the drum I've been banging.

Who the fuck cares about our options last season except inasmuch as it informs what our options are THIS season?

If your point is that Frank should be judged at least on a scale as his immediate predecessor: ie: he's doing marginally better with arguably less resources and therefore should not be sacked: then I completely agree.

But you seem obsessed with policing people's opinion about the previous manager rather than simply focussing on the current one. Or potential future one. Last season is GONE. Over. Done/dusted. Ascended to heavan. In the record books. Pushing up daisies.

Stop talking about the dead parrot and focus on the live one! :D

I could easily have done the same myself, completely innocently - no stitch up required.

Pick up cup, grab coffee, go out check the pitch/chat to assistant etc...

Excuse the pun - but its a storm in a tea cup

However, as someone said earlier (apologies whoever it was) - its become his Christian Gross travelcard moment, an instant meme, and it just seems to encapsulate his time at the club
