Loan to Stoke cancelled and now on loan at Oxford (along with Lankshear).
Oxford supposed to have a game at 12 noon today but it's been postponed.

According to the Oxford United socials, they have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. Suprising? Maybe, but given he’s struggled to get in to the Stoke team, maybe not at the level we’d hoped he’d get to

Oxford United caretaker head coach Craig Short on Jamie Donley:

"He’s fitted in so well. What was great after training yesterday is he came up to me and, he’s only been in the building two days, he said ‘I’m ready to start’.

"That's what you want to hear. I know people talk about the minutes he’s played and he hasn’t played full games."If you train hard enough, you can get through games and his game isn’t about out of possession, it’s about in possession.

"He’s a very cultured, technical player as you’d expect coming from the club he’s at. He’s one of those players that looks as though he’s got so much extra time on the ball, he seems to create that space. I think he’ll be very creative.

"Everybody was raving about him anyway...I saw him in the small sided game and I can’t remember him giving the ball away too much.

"Scoring goals has been a little bit of a problem for us...but he might be a little bit of the icing on the cake for us."

"I coached Tom Cairney at Blackburn Rovers and [he] went on to Fulham and did good things,"[Donley] reminds me a little bit of Tom; the way he moves, the way he is with the ball, a lovely left foot. You often find the left footers seem to be more graceful players, more creative players, but that’s probably what we do need."

All this sounds fine. But it begs the question, what happened at Stoke? He spent over 90% of his time, game after game, sitting on the bench as an unused sub.
