I've got a feeling we've been seduced by the outside chance of getting Savinho and it'll be 3 windows that we've waited to get him.

Frank clearly likes a widget that can go on the outside. I think he only has eyes for him after the flirting that occurred in the summer.

1x LB, 1x LCB, 7/8x RCB, 2x RB, and one of them Porro, is not even a RB and more suited to playing as a RW in my opinion. And that was our defence.

Levy had more than enough time to find a replacement for Son, but decided to go ahead with Tel, had done feck all, like Timo before him.

It was a meh window IMO, any good was undone by the bad, so a middle ground meh.

I maintain, it was a good couple of windows. We ditched a number of players that were dead wood. Selling Johnson was a strange move, but understanding is that his family (who have a lot of influence) put pressure on the club.

The Son replacement was Kudus (granted, on the opposite wing), who b4 his injury had the most assists in the league.

Full backs, we went in with Porro, Spence, Udogie, Davies. With Grey, VDV, Sarr all capable of playing in an emergency.

CB - Danso, Dragusin, Romero, VDV and Davies for cover.

Injuries have left the club short once again. Kulu was expected back in the squad in December, but has had a set back. Madisson is back training on grass; and maybe will be ready to play some minutes soon. Solanke is now back from injury and the goals have started to come.

Improve Now
Danso, Simmons, Kudus, Gallagher, Palhinha, RKM

For the future
Vuskovic, Takai, Tel, Souza

OUT
Johnson, Soloman, Gil, Holjberg, Son, Reguillon, Forster

Younger players like Phillips, Young, Devine, Moore, Yang could be ready to come into the squad over the next couple of seasons.

Conclusion - For the first time I can remember, there is no longer any bad, unplayable players in the squad. Everyone is good enough to start. What Spurs do lack, is exception world class talent (i.e. Bale, Son, Kane) to push the team to the next level. Signing players like this is close to impossible - you have to develop them over time. Bergvall, Simmons certainly have potential to be something special and I have a feeling that Tel will develop into a very good striker. Vuskovic is already attracting interest from major clubs - and Spurs may even struggle to have him kick a ball for us.
 
Woolwich have agreed a deal in principle to sign Jaden Dixon from Stoke City. The North London giants will pay the English Championship club an initial €600k, according to the Athletic. It’s been a quiet deadline day at Woolwich in terms of first-team additions but they’ve been firmly planning for the future by securing deals for two youngsters - Dixon and Evan Mooney.

The latter has undergone his medical to complete a €500k deal to join from Scottish Premiership side St Mirren. Dixon, however, warrants a bigger fee given his standing as an England U19 and interest from rival clubs. Chelsea were in talks to sign the defender in the summer but Woolwich have won the race. Interestingly, Dixon - who can play at centre-back or right-back - progressed through the youth ranks at Tottenham and it will be a sore one for their North London rivals, if he develops into a first-team star.

OK so your happy being 17th if the club don't win the league.

No wonder you think the squad is so great if that's your expectation because we ain't winning no league.

We're as bad as Crystal Palace except the trophy they won was against better teams, I wonder if there's someone on their forum listing the squad saying how good it is, and they don't want to be 2nd, they're equally as happy being 17th.

I hate this argument as it's entirely stupid to be honest.

Teams that consistently finish 2nd have a greater chance to win something, due to having a better average quality player that is able to compete more consistently. Hence why they consistently occupy the elite top end of the table.

teams that finish fucking 17th are generally shit, and if they win something, generally do so for lucking out, and just having a one in a million, like Leicester did, when they won the league, shortly followed by relegation, coz shit players.

The insane mental gymnastics and complete lack of self awareness regarding this argument is frightening...

I appreciate this post. I don’t think harry7 is saying we’ve got a fantastic squad, he’s saying we’ve managed it better the last few windows after years of bad buys. We did have reasonable depth at the start of the season. We have sold deadwood (our biggest problem since Poch). Personally, I think we need a better manager, and are 3 decent players away from having a very competitive team. Simons, Udogie, Bergvall, Gray, Vuskovic, Odobert and Tel will continue to improve. Hopefully Maddison and Kulusevski recover to their former level, and Solanke has shown how much we missed him, with players like VdV, Romero, Palhinha, Gallagher all giving us a spine.

However, the injury crisis is ridiculous, and the failure to get emergency cover for some positions could easily cost us relegation. When you have a threadbare team, more injuries increase in likelihood. We’re sleep walking to the championship.
