Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He looks like he’s baulked up a bit to me which has made him harder to knock off the ball.

He certainly seemed up to a scrap with Rodri which is no mean feat.

Gotta be honest, I though CG slice his cross a bit.

I think he just swung it into an area

Solanke and Odobert running onto it

Was actually behind Solanke, so hardly like it was a quality cross

I like that he won the ball, broke into space, played a ball into a good area early - it was good play - but it wasnt anything special IMO

The enjoyment of it is mostly two things, imo. 1) the spectacular goal on the end of it 2) how little we see that sort of play

And us

The club is so easy to disrespect from officials, its one of the things we really need to change

Refs, FA, Premier League - always very happy to fuck us over because they know they can

We really need to stop this crying. Especially considering we got away with a goal from Solanke which should definitely have been disallowed for a foul.

We get treated no differently to any other club, we get some calls and we don’t get others. The victim mentality is ridiculous.

Solanke didnt see him coming, Guehi comes in from behind, stamps on Solankes ankle and gets kicked in the process

Never a foul on Guehi, IMHO
Where is this stamp on Solanke’s ankle? It doesn’t matter if Solanke doesn’t see him. Mate,I’m delighted it was allowed but I see a foul there and as I said before I’d be wanting a penalty if Guehihad kicked through Solanke.

Stamps on his ankle before Solanke makes any contact with him

Yeah he’s adapting to the physical demands.

He and Wirtz both had a tricky first few months coming from the Bundesliga. It’s normal to have that adjustment period.

Both looking very good now though
He's becoming our star player..becoming a focal point in the AM.....if only he had a real striker to pass to...for me, that's our biggest priority. Instead of relying on defensive players to score...

I think it was a foul but I’m not complaining. Solanke kicked the back of Guehi’s leg and that’s a foul all day. If Guehi had kicked Solanke that way we’d be screaming for a penalty and rightly so.
Solanke had control of the ball, Guehi did not have control of the ball.

It was interesting that Danny Murphy and Troy Deeney said it wasn't a striker foul. But if it was the other way round and Guehi kicked Solanke's leg, it could easily be a defender foul and therefore a penalty to Spurs/Solanke.

If the following scenario happens:

striker is winding up for a shot
defender sticks out his leg between the shooting foot and the ball
striker kicks the defender's leg

These are almost always given as fouls on the defender as the striker has the right to that space. The defender has to play the ball. I get why this one looked a little different though because it's not a long distance shot and its congested.

I don't know what the actual rule is, though.

Ange was a complete wanker for his "we'll just cop it" line week after week. He eventually dropped it and moaned about officials at Forest a fair bit. Hated that. Don't kick up a fuss and you get bottypumped. No prizes for being nice in that game.

He was special against Man City proper special that doesn't happen unless you are the real deal. That shot goes in he proper arrives. But even so, joyfully he looks like he could end up being a far better more impactful player than Eze. He'd be brilliant with a fit Maddison. Hoping Xavi and LWB turn into a couple of world breakers.
