Don't know much about Villa and Leeds, but through my Geordie connections I can tell you that Newcastle are years away from expanding theirs for various reasons.
Most seem to accept that it won't happen at all.
We absolutely do need big players. The type of players that command a top salary. There is a massive lack of quality and experience in our squad.
Whilst Newcastle fans are likely happy with their current situation compared to Ashley, I get the feeling they must feel a little like the 'project' hasn't really evolved like they'd have expected it to under one of the wealthiest owners in the world.
Since they got rid of Staveley, they don't seem to have really shown much "energy" towards winning things, and it kind of makes sense with the stadium because it is already quite large, and in an area where there's a limit really on how big they can be, commercially, to give them more PSR space.
It wouldn't particularly surprise me if they regretted buying Newcastle over a club in or closer to London.
Not necessarily we just need to be smart in our purchases.
Players like Ndiaye from Everton isn't going to command a big salary for example, there are profile fits that would seemingly slot in this team who won't command a high wage.
The big players thing is overplayed IMO

We'll just buy a load of players from the relegated teams for too much money and claim we "won the window" because we spent a lot.
And then be confused why next season, loaded with players who got relegated, lead us.....into a relegation battle.
The Newcastle situation shows how unfair PSR/FFP actually is.
I get it. And agree that sudden wealth and extreme spending is also not fair. Nor is it it safe. A trillionaire nation can buy all the worlds best players, pay them the highest wages ever, then get bored and fcuk off. That would bankrupt the team. That can't happen.
But it's really not fair that a club has funds to spend, but can't and have no way to ever grow the business to a level organically.
There has to be a way to make it fair.
Maybe the wealthy owners should be forced to put 100% of the players contracts and transfer fees in trust. Up front.
That way, if they do f off, they have to honour their commitments regardless.
That might, in turn, make them more cautious and it'll self regulate spending as a result.
I think it's a difficult subject.
If we look at the enshittification of everything we used to enjoy - both football and computer games - there's one culprit; the 'pay to win' model.
I think it is fine and fair for an owner to basically finance the running costs of a club. A noble pursuit, to an extent. I don't think it's quite correct, though, to allow unlimited wealth into the current system because, as we've seen, it just keeps escalating until you get to the NBA/Baseball levels of stuff (like Juan Soto, with his $700m+ contract). That's football in the UK in a nutshell, where non-corrupt clubs are struggling to compete with the corrupt ones, and you're paying £60m going-rate for 'meh' level players, and paying £200k a week for players that can't get into City's team.
There really needs to be more controls over the inflation of football, and the justification of investment. Like, clearing debt and financing facilities/stadiums is one thing, but allowing your club to be a shill for money laundering - Barca/China style - is another
They may well have thought Levy stood between them and selling the club and/or that he was reducing the value of the team. I can't imagine there is any reason they would want to hold on for the long term. They have said the things you would have to in order to calm the fan base, but they just came out of a break even transfer window. That's a very Levy window. I don't think anything has changed. We just have to hope there's no division between sell/don't sell within the family.
Ndiaye is not a needle mover. A good player but we have enough of those.
Our problem is that 10 years ago we experienced a football miracle where Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Walker, Rose, Dembele, Kane, Son, Dele and Eriksen all became world class at the same time despite being on mediocre salaries. Now that all that world class talent has drained away we need to replace it. That means bringing in some top players on top wages, because we sure as fuck aren’t going to repeat that miracle from 10 years ago. It simply isn’t possible.
We’ve spent a lot of money on this squad but even the best players in it would be bench players in the peak Poch era. We have nobody in the squad anywhere near peak Kane/Son/Lloris/Eriksen etc. We have to add serious quality to get back to the top end.
The big player thing does not have to be on purchase. We have had big players at Tottenham, Hoddle & Kane were 2 of them and were home grown. However if we cannot grow our own then we need to buy them in. They can be young and grow into the category like Vuskovic or Bergvale but we have also bought top quality in the past like Klinsman. Instead of buying say 5 medium quality players we should buy say only 2 high quality players this summer. They raise the whole standard of the team and the lesser players gain confidence from playing with them and improve.

He hits the nail on the head, even the most die hard Enic fluffers would, be hard pressed to defend this.
We have all had enough of their incompetence, next season's transfer window won't be any different to previous ones.
We shouldn’t be under any illusion that it will be any different until, Enic are shown the door for good.
I'm expecting our LW next season to be Mikey Moore, Palhinha offered some sort of contract, Vuskovic to replace Dragusin who will be sold, Richarlison also sold, so the main incomers will be a new forward to compete with Solanke, a journeyman LB to play until Souza is deemed ready to play, and a goalkeeper.
Probably another forward loan player like we have had with Werner and Muani.
Pretty much spot on, of course they would have tried but, these all fit the profile or wage structure.
