Ange got the selection completely wrong vs Rangers. Needed physicality (e.g. kulu coming on). And we were awful. I would say both teams at their best on neutral turf, we would murder them.
Totally agree. I wanted to pitch invade and punch Werner that night. Utter pussy. Johnson was just as bad. We were abysmal and Deki pulled us out a hole.
It woukd be a cricket score if we played them at home

I don't think he's worth that much at all tbh. People will get excited after a good performance tho. I'd say £30m ish. Think Alex Scott at 19 for Bournemouth. Archie Gray was overpriced to us.
Teams like Brighton want £50m for kids. It’s potential where most of the value is.

If Mikey continues this way, he would easily sell for £50m (if on good contract). Mute anyway as I’d reject any offer. £50m now is about the same as Scott was (£25m) three years ago. Moores ceiling is way higher IMO.

£50m is not the same as £25m three years ago! More like £30m now. I could believe he's worth about that or perhaps a bit more, but way less than £50m What he's worth is what he'd fetch in the market, rather than the amount we'd demand and in doing so price him out the market (if we chose to do that). You may well be right that we'd ask £50m.

It’s desperation. Brighton play their kids then they do well then the likes of Chelsea with billions of dodgy money come in. Moore if we tried to sell him might only get £40m but if clubs knew we might sell him but don’t have to you would never bet against a £70m Chelsea bid for him. Chelsea apparently went all out to try and get him before he signed a senior contract with us.

The real gem though is Vuskovic. I hope we keep him but he is already probably the best defender in the German league. Bayern, Real, Barca. Everyone would go for him if they knew we would sell so his price would be crazy.

Youve also got to factor in the buy back clauses, match right clauses, sell on % clauses - all can make an impact on what you sell someone for

Really, all these complications turn sales into glorified loans.

Sell a player, with a fixed buy back fee, means you get him back whenever you like.
Or with a % sell on means if you want him back youve got a baked in discount.
Or with match rights etc...

But we didn't murder them. I was in the stand. It was arguably an even weaker Rangers side than they have now. Their midfield ran the show and it wasn't just the physical side so often used to describe Scottish football

That Kilmarnock performance was something else. Looked like the Mikey we saw destroying teams single-handedly in the youth teams.

Think he's likely gonna need another loan at a higher level before we try and integrate him - maybe a higher-end Champ team or, if we're lucky, a promoted team that will give him regular minutes.

Love watching him - ball sticks to his feet like glue.

It’s why he needed this move. You might argue he was playing against superior technical players at U21 when playing U21 Spain or U21 Portugal but Kilmarnock players will be a lot more physical than 18 year old U21’s and a lot more experienced and street wise.

I always thought last season his issue was physical. He couldn’t deal with playing back to goal, accelerating in tight space or simple shoulder barges. He looked like a boy, a very talent boy but in a men’s league.

Constantly playing against men and doing lots of gym work to improve core strength is the key. His brain and technique has always looked excellent and that is the more important if you want to be elite but he needs to get to premier league physical level which he isn’t yet.

Motherwell are the best footballing side in the league to be fair to them. Celtic might go for their manager in the summer.
It’s difficult to say where Celtic and Rangers are in comparison to England. We played Rangers last year and gave us a tough time but that doesn’t tell a real story of what they are. Both gigantic clubs but play in a sub standard league.
That’s the reason we think they are gigantic clubs. They are so much bigger than everybody else.
In the real world they get beat by Belgian clubs.

Completely agree on the physical aspect. He's clearly bulked up, is more willing to get stuck in and looks at home in the men's game now. He needed a season in a physical league and consistent gametime to help with that.

However, with him I think his decision-making also needed (and still needs) a lot of work. In the youth leagues he was so good he could do it all by himself and didn't need to rely on his teammates, and stepping up to the men's game I think he looked a little lost at first.

Watching his highlights at Rangers he's still not quite there. He often takes too long to release the ball, gets pick-pocketed, tries a shot when he doesn't have space, etc. But with more gametime he's improving - and against Kilmarnock it all came together and he looked absolutely top class.

Mikey's got all the technique in the world and a lot of creativity, but by PL standards he's very slow for an attacking player. I think he's gonna need to get that decision-making consistent and adapt to the intensity and speed of the PL, but if he can do that he could be a seriously top player.

I think the next step for him should be a faster, more intense league. I think a Championship loan would be good for him as it's so relentless and the standard is much more consistent than the SPL, which basically has a bunch of League 1, League 2 at the bottom end.

Despite all the hype, I think he's still not quite PL-ready yet and I think we'll harm his development if we try to integrate him too soon. He's only 18 so another year on loan is absolutely fine given his age. No need to force it yet.
