Because we never had another manager who had the balls to actually say we are winning a trophy this year and instilling belief in the players that it was going to happen.

Ange was unique and he terrified some supporters. They couldn't handle the pressure of our manager saying we could win something and break our drought incase he'd be wrong and we'd be bantered.

I don't care what anyone on here says. It was an incredible achievement by Ange to have the whole dressing room believing we could end the 17 year drought despite having an awful season. And anyone who thinks otherwise just has their own issues.
This.
Negativity is what's wrong with this club, including the owners, management, fans and forums.

"Oh. This was a good season. We didn't win anything but we finished 4th on the table....."

Where is the Will To Win? Where is the belief?

FFS, we haven't won the league since 1961 and all the others of the Big 6 have won it multiple times.

Ange was a breath of fresh air into a toxic, loser environment.
He installed BELIEF into the players and delivered on the same.
And this.

We all seem to have forgotten this quote from our Bill Nicholson:

"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory"

The arguments of winning a EL trophy but finished 17th was exactly this. Ange literally fucking insisted and walked down the path amidst all the noises and achieved what Nicholson would have been proud of, IMHO.

Managers can get lucky? lol you're so incredibly full of shit, using the example of Di Matteo who is clearly the exception because he only ever won one trophy in his short career and Avram Grant didn't even win a fucking trophy of note, just some Israeli pots but nothing major...and who's the 'etc' as well then? lol what nonsense.

Whats more we have had better managers at this club who haven't managed to win with us mainly because this club doesn't win trophies, so trying to act as if it was some sort of random fluke that he won is hilarious seeing as you practically acknowledged that Poch, who is a far better coach than Ange, failed to get us over the line after neunorous attempts and even got knocked out of the same comp against a shittier side with a far better squad.

Had to laugh at you putting our form this season all on Ange yet at the same time trying to putting our cup win on the players, what so now Ange's influence takes presidence even though he's not around anymore yet when he was around when it came to lifting that trophy our tactical geniuses on the pitch was the reason we won :D

Do you see why I say 'low IQ' take ^

Disingenuous, dishonest bollocks, that's all your arguments ever are.

Yes managers can get lucky. How are you even debating that? Avram Grant got to an CL final. Erik Ten Haag won two trophies at United and was well regarded as pony. There’s a long list of managers who have won trophies who aren’t regarded as good, in fact they are derided.

I didn’t put all of this season all on Ange, can you even fucking read? Stop talking about low IQ when you struggle to put coherent posts together. If that’s the best you can come up with to what I said I suggest you sit this out.

You spend all your day just posting absolute nonsense on this site and you have the gall to criticise my posts? Ahaha. You really need to have some self awareness. Maybe time for another holiday?

You're still using the Avram Grant example, you just said he won and now you're saying he got to a final so he didn’t win lol

Regardless of all this you're spectacularly missing the point, you're comparing winning with other teams with winning with Tottenham, our club isnt synonymous with winning trophies so any manager who comes in and wins something here has achieved more than most.

You literally said that Ange is responsible for the rot of this season, nothing to do with how this club has been managed at board level particularly recently and nothing to do with the clown we recently sacked, you're an idiot.

Your last paragraph doesn't make any sense either, stick to the debate and stop trying to deflect just because your argument is shit.

A few, however, have noticed that you've made 165 contributions to this site in 4 years and about 75% of those have been slagging off Ange Postecoglou. I think there's one mention of Bilbao where you said it was "amazing" but only in the context of also slagging off Ange. So... you don't seem particularly even handed.

And then of course there's this in August 5th 2025:

Now I'm a romantic so I absolutely believe we will win the Champions League this season. But instinct tells me you didn't really have an ACTUAL relegation battle in mind when you posted this? :ange-bored:
you got me Colombo, I live in hope, and I despise Ange. I go to games, I've probably wasted 3g plus to watch the junk Ange called football. Dude basically turned me into alcoholic.

If you believe his nonsense about throwing the league, he should compensate me for all the slop he he served up.

He ruined going to Tottenham for me, and for many people around me. Then he has the audacity to take zero responsibility.

Has any other club needed to play such shit, winless football, to win the Europa league?

Did levy and co hamper him so much that his only recourse was to play the most tactically naive football, know to man, in the league to win the Europa. Is that your assertion?

Oh another thing that pisses me off is how some assume we played attractive football. First 10 games it was decent, and tbf there were a few random games where we were OK, but for the majority we laboured in attack, and were horrific in defence. If was ugly to sit through, knowing not only that we were going to lose, but lose playing horrific football.

I can take a manager who is more erratic with results, but play's good football, and I can take a manager who wins consistently but sets up in a drab manner. What i can't take is manager who plays ugly unsuccessful football.

I really can't understand people who'll die on the hill of Ange.

That was cathartic. Thank you.

I watched that whole thing. There was next to no probing at all. It was more passing comments than actual querying
This was my biggest issue with the vid.

They’ve got an ex-manager in the studio whose tactics Neville and Carra slated week in and week out for having no plan B and what do they do?! Blow smoke up his arse the whole programme!

They didn’t need to be obnoxious about it, but could easily have grilled him a bit on his tactics etc,

Spineless wankers!

The PL season was an absolutely woeful watch ad finitum, but because he won us our first major European trophy in over FOUR decades and gave our players maybe a delusional level of confidence (based on their ceiling as a team), that mattered more than anything and I felt he deserved another chance to do his thing with one or two big signings.

I saw a recent photo of Neville hanging out with Giggs. Even if Giggs was the nicest bloke in the world and I grew up with him during all my football career, I wouldn't touch the cunt with a barge pole after what he did to his brother. The absolute lowest of the low. As much as I think Neville is a decent pundit, he is indeed a spineless chump!

Have you considered AA?

I didn't expect anything different tbh

Both parties are serving each other, Ange is box office so he pulls in the views for the podcast and he wants to stay relevant and probably wants a PL job, so I didn't expect him to be grilled like that or for them to say anything that puts him in a bad light, it wouldn't make any sense for either party.

I hear what you’re saying, but it didn’t need to be done in an offensive manner.

It would have probably turned a puff piece into something genuinely insightful.

Neville and Carra just lack the courage of their convictions.

I wonder how many times he practiced that quote in the mirror?!

:ange-hmm:
Maybe twelve? Spanning his entire career practising his speech to get people so hyped up and motivated considering he is an introvert by his own admission, probably another 4000 times?

And there was absolutely nothing wrong with that, to be honest with you, since you meant it as a sarcasm. If only half of the league managers took that effort in practising to speak, we would have been spared the pain of listening to Frank, Poch, Unai, Conte etc over the years.

It’s a sports podcast mate, not some Sky Sports deep-diving tactical analysis. No-one’s tuning in to hear a forensic breakdown of why he kept playing Bentancur as a lone 6 and a deep dive into PL record - that doesn’t serve anyone apart from Spurs fans who already argue about that stuff on X and on forums.

People take this crap far too seriously, the sport is basically a soap opera driven by popular narratives. Podcasts are just another way to engage the public and stir debate and react to what everyone’s talking about and spin up more narratives...not every conversation needs to be a coaching badge seminar.

You’re not going to get that with most people who go on podcasts anyway, let’s be real a lot of them are there to build their profile and keep themselves relevant...It’s a platform and it's free exposure and to level managers are no different.

It’s effectively a Sky Sports podcast featuring two pundits who regularly pulled the managers lack of tactical nouse apart with their iPad analysis each time we featured.

They bottled it.

Huh? It's not a Sky Sports podcast, it's a pod started by Neville with his mates - now owned by a private company.

They don't get guests on there to pull them apart or do gotchas, have you ever watched the podcast before? Their guests are there to tell stories and have banter, it's not that deep lol

It was backed by Sky at the start and is filmed in a studio with high production values.
