Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The people saying he passed forwards and moved the ball quickly must've been watching a different game to me.

There were multiple occasions he could've played players in and instead passed backwards and lost the ball.

Maybe he couldn't have actually played players in because his final ball in the final third is lacking.

For all of his efforts, he's a boy playing against men most games. I'm not sure if that's because he hasn't got quality around him or just doesn't have the quality himself. Will only really know if we get important players back.

Always have a yard off of winning a 50/50, always half a yard short, half of too many things.

He tries but unless this kid really sharpens up and gets on his toes more he'll never make it as a PL player. The ball and game passes him by way too much for someone that's apparently so creative.

Desperately need Maddison and Kulusevski back soon. Our season was in reality finished before it started losing them two.

Again, weird obsession with Xavi

One of 2 players to get a shot on target?

Carried or passed forwards whenever he got a chance. Actually had the balls to try things.

Granted they didn’t always work but hey wasn’t the problem yesterday
What a run you're on.

When Xavi is good, he is very good.

When he is poor... well, he looks terrible.

There are lots of terrible players out there, but finding the very good ones is difficult. For that reason, I think we should continue to support the guy to adapt. So often yesterday he must have looked around to his left and right and wondered if he had any team-mates allowed to cross the halfway line, but there is no excusing the fact that he was frequently sloppy and made poor decisions.

I still think he'll come good, but for his own sake that needs to happen before the return of our other attacking options.

Apparantly he was expected to go and collect the ball from vicarios feet yesterday and run the pitch.

No idea what else he could of done to get into the game when we quite literally didnt progress the ball through the midfield even once yesterday.

reminds me a bit of winks at times. boy against men.

he is still young so hopefully he improves, but im not confident hell ever have the physical sharpness and power to be a good enough 10 in this league. theres little glimmers and moments here and there, but thats not enough to warrant being a starting 10, you need to be a net positive 9 times out of 10.

its a funny one cos maddison is arguably just as feeble, but hes got the wisdom to play in a where where thats not highlighted as much. wed be in a better position right now if maddison was healthy for even just 50% of the season so far, we wouldnt be in a relegation fight. football intelligence....something we are severely lacking with the players we have available!

I agree. The thing is we really need Madders and Kulu back to where they were, but more likely than not, that will never happen.

It remains unexplained as to why we have had the worst injuries in the league two years running. ENIC really should have looked into this more to resolve it, as it now looks like it might take us down.

The first thing to look at is how many injuries happened at home vs. away, and if home then whether there was also an above usual incidence of opposition injuries at the new stadium. I'm sure it's not THE factor, but the banked run-off from pitch to stands in order to have the retractable pitch seems designed to make players stretch muscles in fairly un-natural ways.

Something is going on. Or at least it's odd enough that it should be a major ongoing focus of the owners

If he played in any of the other top six teams I reckon he would be lighting up the PL... I truly believe that... but as we know, the lilywhite shirt is like kryptonite for any half decent player. You put it on and instantly feel the talent drain your body. Only global superstars (Kane, Son, Bale, Modric) were immune to this phenomena.

I think there is a direct correlation with the team playing on the retractable pitch.

Especially when it rains.

I'm a pillock and I realised this a while back in a home game against Wolves when it was pissing down.

Both Spurs and Wolves players were dropping like flies that day.

Levy has fucking ruined this club with his stupidity, greed and miserly budget for everything apart from his own remuneration.
