Nah... He was signed (20m?) as a potential star (so long as he kept his head right).
Fans here had been banging on about him for ages.
So, we're lucky to have him then!
He’s shown glimpses of talent that got him selected to the England squad.
I just don’t think he’s got the right mentality to push on and become a consistently good player.
Thinks he’s arrived, rather than just being at the start of his journey.

He thinks he’s better than he is but can never back up his beliefs. He’s a poser. He thinks he’s a gangsta. He is a coward on the ball and only wants to pass back to a centre back and point. He can’t cross. He can’t use his weaker foot. Won’t shoot. Can’t deal with anything diagonal over his head because his positioning is shit. He wears tights!!! And most of all his attitude is shit.
He can be an excellent one v one defender but he’s losing that now too. He’ll never get into the World Cup squad.
I watched a video today of the players running out for training and he just bugs the fuck out of me. He’s so unlikeable.

Another player who hasn't been nurtured or guided properly, he has talent but he has shown glimpses however he is another one in the long line of players who hasn't had a coach to get it out of him, it's it a coincidence that none of our players are actually improving at this club and have been swallowed up by the shit culture where players are fine to drift and not take any accountability.

Underlying that is the fact that with the right attitude and application he could be a very good player.

He's not even that good. He found his level in the Championship.

When we were interested in him we played Middlesborough in the cup. Now we played shite that day, but Spence really didn't impress me. I thought he was utterly shit defensively

Funny thing is, Warnock was actually way wrong about him when he said he was either World Class or Sunday League, he's now been consistently "meh" for ages, neither calamitously bad, nor anything particularly good, he's just there plodding along.

Yep. People think of him as a young player but he isnt, he is 25.

I've no idea why, though if you watch his interview with Rio you might get part of the answer at least? tbf, it's hard to be associated with Nandos without also being associated with chicken.

I think maybe Bergvall has, but that’s probably more organic with extra time in the league than coaching.
