Have you watched the games last season? Still need to figure out what exactly was so much exciting. I admit we had a few games and moments where it all came together, but can't remember a single exciting game in the Premier League in 2025. Maybe Ipswich away. Most of the time we were dull, prime example Tamworth in the FA Cup.
It was exactly the same sort of awful last year. There was no excitement and no attacking football and the defending was just as bad. That system which worked in lower leagues when you've got overwhelming talent doesn't work at the PL level. We were absolutely horrendous going forward but some people seem to have memory-holed that one because we are still awful this year.

Maybe us going down is exaktly the kind of hard reset that is needed. We'll probably lose most of the players, that we want to get rid of anyway. And the whole fucking management. It might be a kick up Enic's ass too, to sell the club.
Fear the only sort of hard reset that will fix us would be ENIC selling up, and they will not do that while their multi-billion asset is in the Champ. No chance they sell low when they can just try to cheap their way back up into the prem and it'll be worth far more.

ENIC will not sell, and does not seem willing to run the club any way other than they have done which is with both eyes on the financial statements

[David Ornstein] 🚨 Tottenham Hotspur players face wage cuts if relegated from PL. Most contracts include clauses to lower salary (vast majority by ~50%) in event of going down. Provision placed in all deals under Levy so #THFC have some financial protection @TheAthleticFC

thought it might be the case. Levy is the most risk averse chairman in the history of the PL. He would always write something like that into a contract.

Hitting them in the pocket is probably one of the only ways to motivate them.

We were absolutely dire for the bulk last season (17th!!!), and most of the last 3rd of 23/24, beating only relegation fodder. People are still remembering the early days of Ange, which were often good tbf.

This useless twat is a big reason why we’re in a relegation struggle and you want him starting?
lol our top scorer and he’s missed a chunk of the season injured.

He’s also got previous dealing with this situation whereas a lot of the squad don’t.

There’s a huge amount of problems right now but I’d argue that Richie short term isn’t one of them.

We had a joyful burst at the start of Ange's tenure where play was good, no one denies that. But the final 80% of it was horrendous, even if they would turn in a performance every 10th or 12th time out. Sadly we can't play City every week.

We were poor before Ange, got worse under him, and Frank could not change anything about it.

If Ange had been brought back we'd still be in danger of relegation today, except that perhaps he'd have been sacked much earlier in the year than Frank was which may have helped.

We're basically at the same PPG as last season. The only difference is that two of the promoted teams aren't historically bad this year and will manage to stay up. We would've been in this position last year had Sunderland and Leeds come up instead of Leicester and Southampton.

Why would it drop to 1.5bn?!!!! Would only need to spend 200M to guarantee promotion and recovery back to current revenue levels

And we will generate that 200M in sales anyway

Revenue would fall off a cliff

Relegation would dramatically reduce that value because a football club’s worth is driven less by physical assets and more by future cash flows, global relevance, and competitive status.

Heres a video that is only 20 mins long & has been posted several times that explains the ramifications

A few of them are quite cosy knowing they'll be sold in the summer if relegated. But it's good to know that for the rest it's gonna seriously hit them hard in the pocket.
We can't sell 22 players in one summer so alot of them are gonna have to enjoy good old championship football if they don't get their act together

Maybe put up a nice poster of Preston in the changing room along with the 5 hour coach drive up the M40 :davieshmm:
