An inexperienced defender knows you bank on the keeper there, and hold your hands up to apologise for sleeping. He knew he was goiing to be sent off and concede a penalty. I don't understand how even in a split second, did he think that'd be a good idea on any way.

I'm a bit surprised the stadium is still full. 3-1 down with a man sent off and they are still paying and getting behind the team... and the support is supposed to be fickle.

Referees sometimes let such clear grabs slide when:

1. they are momentary and not prolonged
2. they take place among a crowd, as in set pieces
3. the player in question doesn’t have a clear goal scoring opportunity

His didn’t meet any of these criteria unfortunately.
