I heard Solanke and his piss poor interview after the game where he said the lads have nows sat around and had a “chat” about relegation. His fucking tone was disgraceful.
A chat is what me and the lads do at work about where to put the pallets . In the shed or out in the yard.

We’ve been saying that for ages (about getting players back). I’m not so sure. Injured players take time to get back to match sharpness
I dont know the timeline is on them coming back, but I think the true do or die run will begin mid april starting with Brighton away. Thats in about 6 weeks.

Theres a 3 week break after the forest game so that might be some time for returning players to adjust.

Agents are only interested in the player not the club , them moving means another nice bonus for said agent . If an agent knew this 50% cut was in a contract & it happened they’d probably find themselves no longer the players agent . Think of it sensibly, you think any player in a supposed elite club would be happy at A) the wage drop B) Be willing to play in a 2nd tier league , jeopardizing their international & career as a whole

They’ll be transfer requests flying around like confetti
Yeah but the point is that anyone involved with the contract probably never really thought that was even a conceivable scenario in the first place.

Issue is we could already be 18th and then chasing those above.

I could see that as a possibility for some lower league players , but we’re talking millions of pounds of lost revenue for them . Conceivably scenario or not , I’d just be amazed if any agent / player would agree to it . Players in top leagues are pretty much like a business , agents , lawyers , PR /Marketing ( personal sponsors ) , financial advisors . The whole “Brand “ of each player would be affected if this clause were to exist

It's possible, but it is only 2 games away so I'm not really sure how much we would be chasing in that case.

West Ham have Man City and Villa away. Forest have us away and Fulham at home after playing in Europe. I know West ham are on a good run of form and Forest got an important result against City, but it is a relegation fight and they're both down there with us for a reason.

Ideal scenario, in the case of us going down, is that we have a big summer clear-out and end up in a situation where we end up dipping into the academy more and bringing through some spurs lads. Its been the case before where PL academy players do well in that league, and IMO we really need some club-indoctrinated culture in the dressing room instead of an ensemble of players who won't have grown up supporting the club
100% :pochserious:

Add in a few English players like Hackney and potential a few PL players like Wharton

If we have a clear out the players that come won't be better than what we have. I need people to understand that.

The problem is people think this can't get worse. It can. If we get relegated and VDV, Romero, Solanke, etc all leave, there's a good chance we spent multiple years in the championship.

There is way too much revisionism in this thread.

I get that everyone wants to pinpoint how and why we are under real threat of relegation but I am unsure anything has been so bad as to lead to this situation.

I would however highlight the following:

No star player, who would walk into any side is a big one. Only 8 or 9 years ago we had maybe 6 or 7 plsyers who would get into a PL best squad of 20.

Postecoglou and Frank. Not good enough for us and sent out the wrong message, even if at the time of their appointments, there seemed to be some sense in them.

Injuries have screwed us over more than many teams, and without any star players, levels have dipped even further.

We are too passive by far. Managers and players. Just a pussycat team. Not aggressive, not physical, we completely lack an edge. Too easy to play against by far.

Nobody but nobody who gets anywhere close to being better than average every game. It's bad enough not having a star player but neither do we have a player who is consistently good. No role-model or somebody to emulate or aspire to be like as in that inspiration.

What revisionism are you thinking?

I’d take players of equal ability, that have a far better mentality and give it all on the pitch!

There are several of our ‘better’ players that don’t seem to give a rat’s arse and need to fuck off somewhere else!
