It's mostly a deflection strategy; insisting the worst outcome will happen to try and protect oneself from the bitter feeling of disappointment should it happen. It's understandable.

Having said that there's a few select season ticket holders on here who are openly declaring they will not attend another game when the team and Club need support the most. These people are vile scum and should the worst actually happen, hopefully they will fuck off forever.

If you don't get stuck in when things are at their bleakest then you are no supporter at all.

Hmmmmmm.....

I think on the one hand you have correctly identified the deflection strategy as you call it and yet on the other failed to appreciate the pain many of those season ticket holders must be feeling and going through.

I like to think we all want us to survive. We are just dealing with it and showing it in different ways.

If we survive we will be stronger for it. If we go down, God forbid, we will also be stronger for it, but that might take a little longer.

If you withdraw your support at the time it is most needed - you aren't really a supporter at all. That counts double for season ticket holders.

"Where were you when you were shit" is sung for a reason. Everton fans exemplify how to support when it counts most. Any season ticket holder who withdraws their support at this most critical time in our club's modern history is no supporter at all. Get to the stadium and fucking support. It's our club not Enic's.

Another match where I didn't expect WHU to take any points. I thought their fixtures might stifle them but they're looking far better than I hoped.

They have some momentum now.

I'm really worried.
West Ham are one of the form teams on the league, and have been for 3 months. You can't be surprised they're taken points. They're well set up and fight for every ball. Once they turned us over, and the few results after it was clear they'd be okay. Said like 6 weeks ago it was between us, Forest and Palace, but Palace have ground out results, and Forest can get a result against anyone. We're done. Consigned myself to that quote some time ago

This place will be. In truth no one ever saw a point vs Liverpool and the Forest result is the only thing in question.

There are a fistful of games left, Tudor is going to be replaced after Liverpool, and after Forest there’s a long break.

Although a win in our 6 pointer against the tragic trees would do much for our chances, our fate will be decided by the form we emerge from the international break in.
We've got 4 points all year, I'd love to know what you're all smoking to just think we're going to be fine, based on nothing but thoughts and prayers.
Things might happen in the league, we might get a while point by seasons end of we're lucky!

Today's result changes nothing.
Over the last 6 games they've now earned 9 points to our 1. They're now level on points with us when just three or four weeks ago the oh so smart and wise calm heads on here were explaining that it was impossible they could ever catch us.

Well now they have.

Pretending that the situation isn't worsening with every passing week won't magic this away.

I think a lot of the animosity and anger is with ENIC, and some can't shake off the feeling that going to the stadium now is supporting that lot. I do agree with you that at this juncture, the fans need to go as every bit counts now, every ounce of support can only help the players (notwithstanding how poor they've been). But ENIC are doing nothing to help. Leaving aside their silence, why not lower ticket prices for now till the end of the season if you want to encourage the fans to step up their support?

No drink, drug, or anything else in my life, Pop. Just a clear eyed look at the facts. There will be a new manager in within days, there’s a 6 pointer coming up, and the there’s a long break. We get one more swing at righting the ship and it isn’t over until it’s over.

The fact is that we don't look anything capable of getting a result and you're basing this expectation on hopes and dreams, nothing like facts. We're by far and away the worst team in the league right now, not particularly close either.

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said, but this form took hold more or less with Frank’s sacking. Poor as he was, we were better with him as permanent manager. His approximate 1.2 ppg pace would probably rescue us. Perhaps getting the right manger in will change things, given a few weeks.

We could have players begin to return as well. We’ll be able to play our best centre half pair again. Solanke has reappeared recently and has not been dreadful.

On our current form of course we’d go down, no one disputes that. But this is the worst run in our history and the players have much better in them.

This is why I retain hope as long as a new manager is in and there are games to play.

Whether we win, lose or draw, win the Champions League or get relegated, it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. It's a game played by people who don't give a fuck about us, who don't know we exist and who make eye watering amounts of money kicking a ball about whilst most of us graft to make ends meet.

I hope those who need to hear that remember this over the next couple of months. I've come across people who are genuinely really down about the state we're in to the point where it's affecting their mental health. It doesn't matter what happens. It's totally out of our control so makes fuck all sense getting worked up about it.

Getting relegated might end up being the best thing that could ever happen to us. Might be awful. Who gives a shit. It doesn't fucking matter!

Chin up you miserable fucks! Sun will still be up tomorrow!

That ppg tally from Frank is massively inflated because of how lucky we were getting results early in the season. That was an anomaly that was always going to end, there was no logic to it, it was a fluke and it ended. I said this in September. There was nothing positive you could say about anything he did and he's squarely why we're here. Frank was the worst full time manager we've had in my lifetime.

Tudor is an idiot, and I have absolutely no faith that the brain trust will hire the right person, and with West Ham flying, and Forest a match for anyone on their day, I don't see us getting more points than those around us.

Do you see anyone from the club, from the Board through to the players, having to call Suicide Prevention should we get relegated? I guarantee, sadly, that some of our supporters will, even though it seems so easy to say it's only football. Just hope they get all the help and support they need, and they're going to need it with the cesspool that is the media these days and the amount of taunting and ridicule Spurs fans will receive.

I know there are people like this, and I think it's a bigger social problem than the mismanagement of our club, that some people feel there is not enough good in their life to survive their football club's relegation. It's a sad state of affairs to be sure.

This is only sport. It's blokes kicking around a ball, playing a child's game. We need to find meaning in something besides this to have a life we want and each person deserves.

But this is a good call to look out for people we may know who will take this very poorly and that we should be more present and let the bonds of family or friendship help.

And let's keep our perspective, fans of the spam or other banter clubs have to see their team go up and down over the years and they never achieve to anything, yet their fan base is still there and they still derive joy from it.

Have to borrow that "no one likes us, we don't care" chant perhaps. Rally around that banner as everyone wants to kick us when we're down.
