Solanki or any striker playing for Spurs, will be trying to impress while scraping the barrel of meagre possession. Our ball retention and passing isn't good enogh to create enough opportunities for strikers from open play. Set pieces is more often than not our only avenue of attack, against two lumbering CB's we're fighting a losing battle. Sels apart from the save from Tel had very little to do, even though we dominated from corners and throw ins for most of the first half. We don't offer nearly enough for opponents to worry about.
Like Richarlison, Johnson and Gallagher this looked an awful acquistion at the time and has proven so.
Overpaying for middling PL tat has slowly but surely dragged the quality of this squad to the gutter. The prem proven element is such shite unless you are buying the very best available (see: Semenyo, Guehi, Rice).
For the 210m+ spunked on those 4 we could have brought in 5 or 6 non-PL players with much higher technical floors.
Him and Richarlatan is definitely a strike partnership I don’t want to see more of.

I don't rate him that highly but mostly because of his mentality.
He is decent but like all our players he looks worse at present and offers us too little.

What about Son, Alli, Eriksen, Dembele, etc......
Solanke has been average for us and right now when we need performances he isn't delivering. That's it.
I don't think he's that bad tbf, but he's a striker to play alone, playing him with Richarlison just make the two worse. But he's never a 60 million player and he should never be the main striker in a team that is supposet to be big six. That's exactly the kind of decision that makes us be in a relegation battle today.
They’re too samey. It’s a weird partnership to go with in 2026. Neither is really a foil for the other, they both (at their best) hassle and harass but it’s all a bit mediocre & when you’re sacrificing a midfielder for one of them it doesn’t make much sense.
