Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It says absolutely everything about how few England strikers of note there are, when it's likeky that Solanke is seen as Kane's understudy.

You would think that with such a likelihood that we (the club), would be blessed with a quality individual in a key position.

All I see is a striker with ability to some extent but not one who is anywhere close to having the strength of mind to carry any great expectation.

Seems like a decent bloke but so what,if he isn't delivering.

If Kane gets injured you have to think bang go England's world cup chances.

They have three chances anyway No chance, Dogs chance, and one slumped over horse whilst a kid yells Shane!!!! The ships sailed on this group of England players. From Solanke to the full backs they are structurally sunk.

Solanke won’t be in the squad.

Structurally I’d say we are stronger than ever. Certainly we aren’t best coached we’ve ever been. And that midfield is the most balanced I’ve seen an England midfield be in my lifetime. It works.

We don’t have as much on paper firepower as we did in recent tournaments but think this is harsh. Fullbacks relies on keeping James fit, who is world class.

Kane is better than he’s ever been so I’d agree any chance relies on him being fit.

Hmmmmmm....

I don't think James is getting into any world 11, but he is very good. Staying fit in a tournament would be a challenge.

I think Kane looks better because so many strikers are worse, but yes, playing very well.

The midfield has quality, but I think 2 or 3 nations will just have a bit more.

But there is no stand out team per se, the maestros, Ronaldo and Messi are past their peak, so you are really looking at Spain, who have the heir apparent in Yamal and possibly France, who have Mbappe, who can still provide unrivalled brilliance.

Will be interesting to see if the world cup is as functional as the PL has become or more unshackled.

Just my take.

James is the best right back in the world when fit imo, it’s a weak position internationally and he is outstanding forward and back.

He is scoring more goals than he has games to score them in.

Spain and Portugal and then nobody else.

It’ll be a mix. England will be a reflection of both manager and league so I expect us to be very disciplined and work on set plays a lot. Tuchel is levels ahead of Southgate tactically so I expect us to try a lot more and make a lot more changes when it isn’t working.

I do not think we’ll win it but it’s definitely not impossible and we should do well.

I don't really know about best right back, but it's also largely irrelevant. Undoubtedly James can do a top job, and fit he is a very good player for that position.

I think we will have to be at the very highest end of what we can be to get anywhere close.

I also think that whilst IBellingham got ahead of himself, that a Bellingham who feels loved and wanted by his manager is just more able to influence proceedings than any of the other number 10s, even if he isn't maybe the most naturally talented of that group.

Yeah I reckon so. Ideally we keep at least 1 senior striker and selling Rich makes a lot more sense imo. Wouldnt get as much but his contract is almost up and he's an even bigger sick-note than Solanke.

Solanke, Lankshear + 1 new signing would be solid options in the Championship.
Solanke, Lankshear and Scarlett.
Sign Hayden Hackney if Boro don't go up and take him with them. If they do then Cameron Brannagan from Oxford. Never made it at Liverpool but he is very good in the Championship.

Hackney will certainly get a top move this season if Borough don't go up unfortunately. We have missed the boat on him. Wanted him in January, but the powers that be blessed us with the superb, Conor Gallagher instead.

Heat will be stifling - need Wharton to slow the game down and pick passes imo. Can’t play at a high tempo when it’s 30C

Danso, Phillips, Souza, Gray, Bergvall, Devine, Moore, Odobert ,Maddison, Solanke

Those are the players we have a chance of keeping if we go down. The rest (including Vuskovic) will leave.

Don’t forgot we have the Brazil Number 9 as well. An absolute embarrassment of attacking riches, we have.

Gray and Bergvall won't be staying. I can also see Maddison moving unless he is willing to take a pay cut. No way we are paying him 160k a week in the Championship. Solanke is an interesting one. Never thought about him staying but his wages are around the 90k a week mark so it might work plus I don't see many suitors for his services.

Not Solankes fault that someone at the club thought he was an adequate replacement for Kane.

He was on a hiding to nothing straight away.

What I won't accept from him though is a lack of running and putting himself about which was his ONE strength.

And when he can't even be arsed to do that he is as someone else said absolutely stealing a living.

This is my concern. I decided to watch all of his goals and assists from last season and many of them could just as easily have not gone in, or relied on the type of ball in space that we typically don't tend to get because of teams defending deep against us.

I said this when we signed him 2024 - it was blatantly obvious that he had a fluke season just by watching his goals. I genuinely despair at our scouting for high value players - 9 times of our 10 we buy on patchy form, or players that don't suit the managers systems.
