No pleasure in saying it but Solanke has shown exactly what ny concern was with him, when we bought him.
He is decent and does clearly have some attributes but mentality is his biggest failing, and what we need right now are players who are strong of mind and who can get close to optimum performance

I’d be starting Richy centrally as he’s much more of a threat in the air from a set piece or cross.
I also think he’d be more of a nuisance to their centre backs as Solanke seemed absolutely anonymous yesterday.
Our front three are impotent, but Richy looks the most likely to put it in the net.
Richarlison is a nuisance il give him that.

He is a good box threat but lacks quality.
Solankes problem is, he does good work, just not enough of it.
I dont like seeing them on the pitch together although they did actually have a couple of good moments together in the first half yesterday and we probably should have scored from one.

I see Solanke in a different way to you but fair observation. Even with service I think between his ears there is inherent weakness, but.....
As a club we just have been so poor on the striker front.
We should have 3 or 4 strikers. One who needs service, one who can fire it in from distance, another who is pacey/skilful. A 4th who is a goalscorer/poacher.
What do we have? Johnson scored goals for us. Yes, he needed service but he scored goals. We sold the bloke and did what? 35 million pounds received and then we spend it poorly. Going off the point somewhat but it's indicative of nit knowing what needs to be done.

Does nothing to try and make an impact. Doesn't come deep to get involved, doesn't volunteer to take a dangerous free kick, lack of enthusiasm. Movement off the ball is diabolical.
