But levy put the processes in place that led to our current malaise.
The assembling of this squad goes back years. Levy flip flopped between managers, had shambolic recruitment structures in place, gave the likes of Paratici and Lange the keys to the clubs footballing future.
The result is a mishmashed squad of shit thrown at the wall, and millions upon millions of pounds wasted on the likes of Richarlison, Johnson, Solanke among many others.
This worked back in the mid 2000s and 2010s, it doesn’t work anymore, and clubs like Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth have all leapfrogged us in this regard and build squads and hire managers around a footballing philosophy set by their progressive, modern DOFs.
It’s no surprise to me at all that these kind of clubs are thriving in the premier league despite their financial shortcomings. Meanwhile 2 of the clubs who still operate in mid 2000s wheeling and dealing are languishing in a relegation battle in us and West Ham.
So my criticism of ENIC and the lewises is that they clearly didn’t invest enough money to take us to the title challenging capabilities we inherently have as a club, my criticism of levy is for his dated football philosophy that put us in a relegation battle.
