Look at all the possible back up strikers and it’s a pretty miserable bunch. Honestly I would use Jarrod Bowen as Kane’s back up.

It is Watkins. He has had a rubbish season but he is the established 2 and still the highest quality of the rest with the most pedigree.

Solanke, DCL etc .. get them in the bin. These were auditions to see if they could show something and they failed totally.

If he’s not starting then I would go with Bellingham myself. He was exceptional as a false 9 in his first season at Real Madrid. It also gets him in the team and gives you the option of playing Palmer or Eze to give us more creativeness.

How well we do though will largely depend on Kane being fit and also if Tuchel can get the most out of him, as Southgate was never able to.

The CFs behind Kane in the pecking order are about as good as John Fashanu was. When Kane retires from international football, England are going to have to rethink how they're going to attack. I reckon using Foden or one of the other attacking players as a false 9 might be the best approach when the time comes.

The two Dominics shouldn't be anywhere near the England squad, it just goes to show the lack of options in that position.

It's not an issue which is specific to England either, IMO after Kane the next best CF belonging to these British isles is probably Troy Parrott.
Nah.. can't have that, fashanu without exception , is the worst footballer I've EVER seen play for England. Plus he's a homophobic narcissistic nasty arsehole.. Watkins is more than decent. But his season has been effected by taking one for the team and has been carrying an injury since early ISH season.. the other shame ,is Toney following the dollar, fair enough but imo it's cost him his England spot ...he's playing here, i'de say he was bang on for a spot.. not a terrible trio... Kane Watkins Toney ... But it is what it is

Cleanup on aisle 5...nice PR work my man.

You could try arguing the facts.

Who of Trafford, Livramento, Spence, Tomori, Maguire, Henderson, Garner, Foden, Rashford, Madueke & Solanke do you think will start at the World Cup?

I can tell you now at absolute best Livramento might. Most of those aren’t even making the squad!

It’s a hodge podge of players with a whole bunch of subs. Obviously it’s disjointed. Obviously it’s lacking the entire actual England team spine.

The England lineup (with no injuries) will be Pickford, James, Guehi, Konsa, Hall, Anderson, Rice, Bellingham, Saka, Kane, Gordon. You might see a Palmer or Rogers for Bellingham depending on fitness/form or Rashford for Gordon/Livramento for Hall but that’s it.

Now that team probably isn’t winning a World Cup - I can agree on this. But it is a lot better than the shambles that was put out against Uruguay and has combinations who have actually played together..

IDK what's in Tuchel's mind...no one thought he'd drop Bellers but he did. So maybe Livramento, Rashford, and Madueke...you don't have anyone better than Rashy off the left and Saka is, by your own admission, shit so his place ain't guaranteed. And since yall can't quit the perma-injured Reece James, the call for Livramento makes itself.

It's always a hodge podge because yall make the same mistake all the time...gotta get Lampard and Gerrard in at the same time. It's never a balanced team...hence you always wobble out of tournaments.

Wow, that ball is never gonna leave the MF!

Ahhh, perspective...knew you had it in you. But everyone else sucks so it just might.

Hey D, were you in on the conference call?

You seemed to have the "tired" call early...

You should look at the competitive games where we played a settled team throughout. That’s his team. He’s not changing it unless there’s an injury or amazing form forces his hand. Saka isn’t “shit” he’s out of form but he is still very clearly going to be England #1. Palmer would be the backup. James’ has just had his first injury in a year and it is confirmed to be not as bad as thought and he’ll be back within weeks.

Uh no, we aren’t doing that under Tuchel. Hence Anderson. We have a proper 6, a box to box and a 10. It’s a very balanced midfield which has worked very well in recent games.

Why?

They are absolutely tired. It doesn’t take a football genius to see it. The league has too many fixtures. Players are dropping like flies injury wise and the tempo of most games has fallen off a cliff.

The league is no bigger than any other.Only one other has two cup competitions It’s the extra euro games plus the way we play. Every game is a contest. Bale said recently he was at 80% for half the games in Spain.
Declan Rice has reportedly run the most distance in the league. Just a matter of time before he breaks down. Not that I care but can you see him running about in red hot america with 85% humidity, His game is based in running , you just cannot keep doing it. Deki was running 10 miles a game and now he isn’t.
No wonder Harry is flying , 34 league gamesa season, couldn’t care less about their cup comp. Playing for the best team is a lot easier than carrying us on his back.

Yeah it’s too many games to play the pinball style that exists in the prem. It’s extremely end to end and physical. And on average the level of team is higher - mid table premier league sides have more quality than most teams fighting for top 4 in other leagues. It’s a marathon.

The premier league every season comes out flying and its teams are all doing extremely well in Europe. Later on when the knockout stages start our teams look like they’re playing half cocked.

We're 3 months out from the WC...I'll look at the most recent games, thank you very much. As you said, so much bad form going around why should we consider games from months ago?

James’ has just had his first injury in a year and it is confirmed to be not as bad as thought and he’ll be back within weeks.
Yes, yes, rely on him...please!

Ok, could you name this 6, this 8, and this 10 please...but only the "proper" ones.

Same reason it never left Woolwich's MF the other day...apparently you haven't figured it out.

Weak constitution? Why aren't other team's players tired? City play more games (or as many) as Woolwich...why was Rice so tired and let City dominate?

You’ll err .. look at the most recent game with almost none of the players who will even play or make the squad, rather than the games with the settled 11 of players who will actually play. Got you. Garner and Solanke it is!

We don’t “rely” on him - we have premier league level starting replacements who would do. James is world class, he would be most nations best player. He has been mostly fit for a year.

Anderson (probably off to city in the summer Rice (pl player of the year minimum inbound) and one of Bellingham, foden or Palmer. All of which walk in to your NT without even having to think about it.

Yes that was all rice. Ignore the previous game between the same sides which Woolwich controlled. One midfielder was definitely why.

Because city rotate a lot more. Rice has played more than twice as many minutes as Rodri because he is utterly exceptional, almost never injured and nobody can get close to replacing what he does for them.
