Why do we have this stupid debate on our own players. I don’t see the same shit for players we buy for big fees who are not even better or proven than our boys.
Can we not just give these guys a chance instead of constant loans.

Saka playing for England at 19 in the euros.
To be honest, I'd forgotten about that but yeah, I suppose he did explode on to the scene young.
But to not give a gooner too much credit, I don't think he's pushed on and improved as much as expected, he maybe peaked to early?

But he was just shy of being 19 by like 60 days when he made his debut.

I'm going to stand by overrating our youth and say that I still think that Mikey will end up as a better player. 😁

Players “make it” at different times - what was Harry Kane doing at Mikeys age - answer: absolutely nothing that would suggest he would morph into the player he is

The biggest issue and I know I have mentioned it multiple times is physicality and maturity. Everyone goes through puberty at a different rate.

Rooney and Yamal were men at 16. Dowman looks 25 and is much stronger than a teenager. Bergvall is very powerful, Vuskovic is a total freak. When Byfield came on he looked fit and ready.

Moore still has the boy about him, Williams-Barnett still looks like he needs to bulk out. Some players will be physically ready at 16 others not till they are 22.

At 22-23 you can sense their true level.

Main reason I have hope for Moore is he is very technically good but also makes good decisions. Those are the two most important elements of a footballer.

He isn’t an out and out winger though. He is either an inside forward or 10.

The only true wingers we have at the club are Kudus, Odobert and Thompson. That is a major issue.
Maybe Akamrich but I'm not sure how far he'll go.
Irow looked alright on the wing last season (or the season before?) but then spent the next one mainly playing up top.

I think LWB will break into the first team mainly from the wing but his final position will end up being more central.

So yeah, it's a bit surprising that we seem to lack on the wings in the academy because you'd assume it would be a popular position and one that, dare I say, would be relatively easy to stand out in.

He'd definitely got a lot of Grealish about him: somewhere between a 10 and a wide forward who isn't quick enough to be a touchline winger but has great technique, a good cross, and good link-up play cutting in from wide positions.

He's not quite as twinkle-toed as Grealish but I'm hopeful he might have more end product - always felt Grealish flattered to deceive with his final product given his talent.
