May be but he has been sort of game changer or made us better in any way.
No, he hasn't but I don't think he's that sort of player anyway.
He's just a steady player who will run a lot and try his hardest but he's not a game changer by any margin and as I've said before, he's not a bad player and he a handy body to have in the squad but he's also nothing different to what we already have.

We needed a Wharton, or Carrick type, not another energetic No.8.

Wonder if they put a relegation clause in his contract? Would anyone be surprised if they didn’t? Could see us having to loan him out if we go down to the championship and paying some of his wages. who’s going to buy him on that money if we didn’t put a clause in there.
Paying a player £100k pw on a player that isn't playing, when we're in the championship just about sums everything wrong with this club.
If 90% of people here knew he was unsuitable deadweight before he's even signed, how the fuck are professionals buying him? I'm in the wrong career.

And to anyone that defends it by saying he was bought for Poch, do one. Shite is shite. Poch loved a lot of shite players. I can't believe we've not remembered the Winks x Sissoko double pivot.

Yeah he would've been an alright signing for Ange if we hadn't signing Bergvall and Gray. The profile would've at least made some sense that summer (although even then we should've prioritised a passer).

Don't understand at all why we went for him in Jan. Feel like almost every time we gazump another club for a player we end up with a reactionary signing that doesn't really suit the needs of the squad. Happened with Sissoko, Dragusin, Gallagher, Gray, Tel...

Not all of them bad players in isolation, but v.questionable fits for the squad at the time. It's like the recruitment team get FOMO and rush in to nick players regardless of whether they're what we actually need. Surely it's a sign of poor targeting and recruitment policy that we've done this so often in the past 2-3 seasons (coincidentally since Lange has been at the club...).

Danso and Bergvall are 2 exceptions but those were the cheapest of the lot.

Yeah, it was certainly a strange signing and almost like a Levy signing, with him being a long-term target and (suddenly) becoming attainable.
A bit like Tudor seems like a Paratici signing, it somewhat feels like Lange struggles to have his own ideas when it comes to senior players and managers.

:mourweird:

No mate, we gazzumped Wolves for him and that's his exact level.

He's awful, and I get that he seems like a really sound bloke so the temptation is there to overlook his faults on the pitch a little.

But he's awful, he's almost the exact inverse of Romero, i.e. great attitude, diabolical technical ability. If you could graft his mind and soul with Romero's physical and technical attributes. You'd have a Ledley King level defender (minus a bit of pace).

Unfortunately, just playing the two together doesn't even come close to providing this, you just have one defender that's shit because he doesn't care and one who's shit because he's shit, forming an overall shit pair.
