Player Conor Gallagher

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Really weird on Gallagher so far.

Thought he would make an instant and positive impact, not just with his football but also with his leadership.

Quite hard to fathom, but he has barely made any difference so far.

Hugely disappointing, and not to be picked for a crucial game yesterday was quite telling.

His standout attribute was always his energy and fitness

Seems like he's gone to La Liga and the intensity wasn't as high

He's come back not as fit and is basically Michael Brown

Who could’ve seen him being wank coming.

Oh yeah. Nearly everyone.

200 fucking grand a week. At least if we go down he only gets that for a season I guess. Wonder which bottom half club will be taking him on loan.

Sure but we’ve seen every single one of our players be better than they currently are.

Gallagher being brought in for a massive fee+wages has failed to make a single impact so far… and given the circumstances I think he’s going down as one of our worst ever signings.
I mean, neither of these things are remotely true.
I'm not his biggest fan but let's not just talk bollocks, eh?

He wasn't good enough for Chelsea, he wasn't good enough for Athletico, but we thought he was the guy to break the bank for.
We didn't break the bank for him at all, he's about what you get for the money he cost.
An ok player who doesn't really stand out but will try.

Yeah, maybe his wages are high but haven't we all been asking for the club to finally start paying proper, competitive wages for years?

I think the finger of blame here needs to be pointed towards Vinai and Lange because of all the players they could have decided to be the herald of a new wage structure, they picked Gallagher who isn't any better than any other No.8 we already have.

He isn't a bad player but he's not great and he has a lower ceiling than both Gray and Bergvall imo.

£40m fee and £200k is very much massive money - I have no clue what you think massive money is but that’s a substantial expenditure.

And if we get relegated I’d go ahead and say he will, above all else, represent the failure of the season.

It's just such a bizarre scenario for a player like that to go to Atletico at age 24, spend 18 months failing to impress and drifting out of the team, and at the stroke of turning 26 he gets sold to a team in a stronger league for a PROFIT?

Why am I paying more than Atletico paid for a less prime period of his career?

Because we were desperate and Atletico know English teams are rich. Prem teams sell for less to outside England.

The fee sort of makes sense. The wage is absolutely hilarious.

I do understand that and it's underrated in football finance that the price for a player is basically dictated by how much the buyer has to spend, but still, come on.

Now, people will fairly come in and say "what about anti-Levy people saying just pay the fee!", but I think we can all make the distinction that signing Gallagher was ultimately about functionality rather than quality. It's quality you want to pay for, functionality you should be able to find more broadly.

And now we're not even getting functionality, he's just been a passenger mostly, I have no idea what the problem is.

Because there is not a single footballing brain cell operating at the top of this commercial operation.

Look at every single signing starting last summer.

All shit.

Then they appoint a shit manager, leave him in the job too long, and somehow manage to find an even more shit manager.

Footballing incompetence on a previously unseen scale as relegation will prove.

We were floundering in the market and he was “available” so we chucked what we could at him. I doubt he was planned out. He was probably wanted by Ange at one point and the club desperately went back to it.

It’s pathetic transfer business. Truly pathetic and rudderless. He’s an absolutely ordinary footballer.

Pay the fee for the right player. He was not the right player. Another one who to add instantly to the dead weight.
