Player Lucas Bergvall

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The chemistry in midfield or anywhere isn’t right. Imo that’s why so many players are struggling. There’s no repeated passing patterns. No one’s reading anything. Sometimes it’s first time sometimes it’s 4 or five touches. Still feels like players playing together for the first time.

Bergvall is going to be a great player but he’s box to box midfielder maybe potentially a deep midfielder. Not a 10.

That's exactly what it is but it's down to having many bang/below average technicians on the pitch at one time. Players like that will always look like they're playing together for the first time because they haven't got the technical ability to do what you've described.

Spot on, we look like a team that has just been rushed together and are still learning on the job, its awful stuff, we look dead and buried. It comes down to the players not being good, but also playing in a setup which is probably the worst setup balance wise with this group. It feels like everyone is isolated! i think its mainly down to the 3 up top, it hasnt worked since Kane, Son and Kulu.

his first touch was a 10 yard pass , he didn’t look like a professional footballer, the drop down from last year is insane . The best of Bergval and Gallagher should be 2 pressing monsters but they look a shadow of the best versions of themselves . I’m sure in the summer we will hear some stories about why we went down so meekly , it’s total mystery why nobody can get a tune out of these players .

Bit of that yeah. Richie, RKM, Gallagher, in particular so unrealible on the ball. Decision making too with lots of these players is through the floor. Kane would carry the football iq of this team on his shoulders.

When I saw the lineup I really hoped it was Gallagher as the 10 and Bergvall deeper.

Don't think Bergvall's had a single good game for us playing higher up tbh. He just runs around like a headless chicken.

But alas none of our past 3 managers seem to trust him as a CM (probably cos he's that bit too reckless and lacks positional discipline?).

Tricky one but one thing is for sure - playing him as a 10 isn't the answer.

Yeh that was weird. Bergvall is an 8 and Gallagher’s best form was always as a 10 pressing on the defence. It did feel like the wrong way around.

This is the issue , we have a number 10 but yet we play another square peg in a round hole . Nothing we do anymore makes any sense .

Put simply, Bergvall is not fit enough at the moment - after he long injury period he cannot sustain the speed and intensity that is so very necessary for someone playing as an attacking midfielder

Just under a year ago:

We're a little quick to abandon the potential in our players sometimes.
Let's use context though

Paul Coyte and Alasdair gold were the 2nd and 3rd place run ups in last year's player of the season competition

If we were actually doing things correctly as a football club we'd have a plan for Bergvall, profile him correctly and have a position for him in the team which he can eventually step into but he's going to be another one in the long line of players we have failed at this club because we don't do any sort of profiling or planning at this club, we just buy players and force them into formations and positions they're clearly not comfortable with.

The guy is an 8 and the reason why he's not progressing isn't due to the fact he's 'crap' or 'overrated' it's because this club have bought a load of players who play in the same position as him and failed to recruit any passers so he's been shoehorned into a 10 when the guy is clearly a ball carrier, how the fek are any of these players expect to progress if the club fail to build a team of players adequately?

Think he is just wildly overrated.

Good prospect for the future, that's all . Shouldn't be a key figure of our midfield
When he plays well he does look very good. The highlights of him for Sweden in the Poland play-off were absolutely immense.

He's just very inconsistent and keeps being played out of position. Maybe that does make him a bit overrated tbh but there is a serious talent in there.
